Employee of the hospital but will never step foot in their ER again after perforated appendix was left untreated for 4 days while I continued to advocate while septic. Kemptville hospital was amazing!!

I was made to spend two days waiting in the ER for my ct results . They would wait until the end of the day before telling me to come back the next day.
They would give no info to me regarding what was going on and were very rude when I asked. They also said that if I left the building I would loose me place in line. I never want to go back there again.

Six weeks and still waiting for an X-ray appointment and TEN MONTHS for a CT scan !?!

Thank you for getting this started! My 10 year old son developed strep throat. After day 3 he had developed a lot of pain. Instead of heading 10mins to smiths falls hospital for the dreaded 4-6hr wait, I drove 20mins to Perth hospital. We were seen by triage promptly and were told to wait our turn. 3 doctors were visible while we were in triage and 5 people were in the waiting room, including us. We waited patiently. After 4hrs and seeing other people come in and get seen by a doctor before us with no apparent illness, they finally brought us in. This was from 9:30pm -1:30am!! The doctor sat my son down, looked inside of his mouth and said “yep, it’s strep throat”. The doctor filled out a prescription and we were out in 5 mins.
I believe that there certainly needs to be an easier way to be processed and prescribed! Especially for common illnesses!!

My husband visited the emergency department 3 days post surgery on his elbow. (His surgery was done at an Ottawa hospital) He had an infection that had developed into an egg size fluid ball. The attending ER doctor asked when my husband’s follow up appointment was with his surgeon (2weeks) told him to follow up with the surgeon. By the time he saw his surgeon the ball had congealed around his nerves etc. and there was nothing the surgeon could do. He said “why would they not of called his office the following day to ask what they should do? If it had been drained wither her day of the visit or even the next day this would not have happened.” They did operate again to see if they could reverse some of the damage but they could not. He has been left with limited dexterity in his
hand. He lost his job of 29 years because he did not have full dexterity of his hand needed for his job.

There is a nurse who takes your vitals. This senior lady is the most ignorant nurse have ever met. If you wince or complain of pain, you get called a whiner and are asked to leave. Happened twice. Once mentioned to others, everyone knew who I was speaking about. If the staff dont believe your pain, you are dismissed. Not very professional.

I have had good care at both hospitals…but haven’t said that…I also feel like there is times the attending physician is not listening to my health concerns…and I also feel like certain doctors in emergency can’t get you out fast enough!……This is my opinion…

I’ve had not so good experiences, and my mother once was disrespected and treated terribly by one of the receptionist. It does need change.

I have lived this experience in the Smiths Falls Hospital emergency room. I had a crushed spine, dislocated tail bone and torn hip ligament. I was dismissed as an anxiety case with no basis simply because they wouldn't believe the severity of my pain. The attending ER doctor snickered at my choice of words while I was describing my injuries and the nurse was adamant I only required talk therapy...
This was almost 3 years ago. To this day I continue to receive medical cortisone injections (in Kingston, referred once my family doctor saw the shape I was in 3 weeks after the fact) to alleviate some of the chronic pain from the nerve damage.

My dad had stage 4 lung cancer and went to the emergency room because he had trouble breathing. They said they need to sedate him in order to send him to the ICU. We all knew this meant he wasn’t going to wake up. All the family came to say our last goodbyes and as I was saying goodbye the nurse came in and unplugged his breathing machine and then shoved a metal cart into me and SCREAMED at me to get out because I was the reason he was going to die if she didn’t sedate him….because his breathing machine was now unplugged. Then when the doctor was apologizing to me on the hospitals behalf for the nurses behaviour she came up and said “not not apologize to her” then stood in the corner like a sulking toddler. Thats the last memory I have with my dad. And she ruined it.
