These inspections allow dishonest shops to take advantage of people. Ive recently fell victim to a overzealous inspector in VA. Im mechanic and if it happened to me it's happening to a lot of people who are not car savvy or older folks. Please do away with this fraud breeding event. Thank you

Your insurance company understands vehicle inspections do not reduce accidents or they would offer discounts to States that do. However there is no reduction of our auto insurance for living in Virginia. This program is a waste of time!

Obtaining a vehicle inspection and paying the associated fee does not automatically mean your car will be completely safe to drive the moment you leave the inspection facility. For example, you could have just had new brakes installed, only to have the master cylinder fail the very next day, rendering those new brakes ineffective. Similarly, you could purchase a car with a current inspection sticker, only to have the windshield wipers stop working within the first few days of driving it. In many cases, the inspection process seems to be more about generating revenue than truly ensuring roadworthiness. Some unscrupulous auto shops may try to convince customers that their vehicles need additional costly repairs in order to pass inspection, even when the core systems are actually functioning properly. This can be very frustrating for people who don't have extensive automotive knowledge. It's also problematic that drivers can be ticketed for having an expired inspection sticker, even in situations where finances are tight. Someone may be working hard to save up the inspection fee, but get pulled over before they can do so. This can lead to additional fines and penalties, compounding an already difficult financial situation. Furthermore, vehicles can sometimes be sold with outstanding safety recalls, which are often much more serious issues than something like worn windshield wipers. Yet drivers may receive a rejection for the wipers, while being allowed to drive around in a recalled vehicle. Overall, the current vehicle inspection system has significant flaws and does not reliably translate to improved road safety. It does not make roads safer it's just a money machine I moved from Minnesota where it snows half the year and there's no inspection sticker and roads are safer than Virginia and the air is cleaner also cars and not in bad conditions

Inspection laws are just gimmicks to get free money from people. Getting pulled over for it is the dumbest reason for being stopped at all.

Vehicle state inspection is unnecessary. Many people argue that vehicle state inspection is unnecessary because it does not actually improve the safety of vehicles on the road. In fact, some studies have shown that vehicle state inspection programs actually increase the number of accidents on the road. A person can get vehicle inspected today and pay 20 dollars . because everything on the vehicle passes with no defect then about 3 days down the week the brakes go out or front light bulb blows, or ball joints go bad. so just because you get any inspection for today does not mean that every thing will be working good tomorrow while driving your vehicle. to me it is all about money and scamming people who does not know nothing about cars. auto shops get over them and charge them to much for something that would only take them 20 minutes. state inspection needs to be abolished.. period.

These inspectors could care less of safety they only interesting in how much money they can make off of you. If it wasn't any money involved they would not participate at all.

Old system used now by some shops to make money at expense of customers. If you feel you can not take care of your vehicle then by all means have it inpsected but should not be required. To much big brother telling everyone what to do.

I feel we need inspections, but not yearly. Change the interval to every other year. Give new manufactured vehicles a 4 year exemption. t
