The current dress code at Gull Lake is very understandable, yet unfair. Men at Gull Lake are allowed to wear almost anything they want, while women are held to a much higher standard. They are not allowed to show shoulders or their legs. Middle school girls should be taught to love their bodies instead of cover them up. To a very modest extent girls should be able to wear what they’d like, just as boys are allowed to. For most girls clothing is a way for them to express themselves, create confidence, and stay comfortable, our dress code limits girls from doing so. As a school, we should all come to an agreement on a new dress code that both is appropriate, and allows girls to feel both comfortable and confident.
