U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is an agency within the Department of Homeland Security. There are three major offices in this organization: Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA). Each of these directorates have unnecessarily aggressive immigration policies, allowing them to deport immigrants in the United States.

In recent years, ICE has increasingly focused on the ERO and its interior immigration enforcement. The constitutional guarantee of due process has been taken away, as well as the guarantee of equal protection and freedom from discrimination based on race, ethnicity, and national origin. They implicate the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unreasonable searches and seizures. Though the organization was created to prevent acts of terrorism, it has only been an abusive agency with a history of human rights violations from its start in 2003.

ICE is an abusive and unaccountable organization. They have been known for intentionally separating families, searches without warrants, and removal tactics take away even the right to a fair hearing in court. Moreover, there have been more than 1,200 complaints of sexual and physical abuse since it was founded. Thousands of kids are in government custody without their parents as of right now. An estimated 11 million unauthorized people live in the US and even more try to illegally cross the southern border every month. Many people would agree that the current system is failing us.

In order to solve the problem of ICE mistreating non-American citizens, there should be a new government agency that will be in charge of monitoring ICE and how they hold and prosecute non-American citizens that have crossed the border illegally. This government agency should act as a neutral third party and should investigate how and if non-Americans are being mistreated. They should then hold the officials accountable for their actions, sort of like the United Nations World Court.

To the President of the United states, Donald Trump, and his second hand in foreign relations, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo,

It has come to my attention that you choose to ignore the absolute inhumane actions that ICE and border patrol are taking out on non-American citizens so allow me to inform you on what's going on.

· Many of ICE’s removal tactics take away even the right to a fair hearing in court

· Your system rushes to judgment and tries to ram people through a rubber-stamp system that ignores individual circumstances.

· They implicate the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.

· The constitutional guarantee of due process has been taken away.

· The constitutional guarantee of equal protection and freedom from discrimination based on race, ethnicity, and national origin has been removed.

· CBP’s militarization of the border region has produced rampant abuses ranging from racial profiling to excessive force.

· Children are being kept in cages separated from their families, malnourished, and abused.

And these are very few of the examples I could use but I won't waste your time.

So, this is what I ask both of you. Shouldn’t it be embarrassing to live in a country where violence and injustice are what we're known for?

You hold the power to fix all of this. In order to solve the problem of ICE mistreating non-American citizens, there should be a new government agency in charge of monitoring ICE and how they hold and prosecute non-American citizens that have crossed the border illegally. This government agency should act as a neutral third party to investigate how and if non-Americans are being mistreated. They should then hold the officials accountable for their actions, much like the United Nations World Court.

I’m holding you both responsible and expect the only ones in control of this to act. We are all human and we all deserve to live our best lives. If you must keep this place to yourself, do it the right way.

Enough is enough. Families belong together and this agency is just straight up cruel. Stop treating people like trash.
