Abolish cycle lanes over bridge

Take away footpath out going not 10 people a day use it & have it as cycle lane . I sat in traffic on bridge for 7 min & only one person cycled either way.

There has to be a better solution to accomadate all types of users of the road as this clearly doesnt work for all the reasons already mentioned. I'mbnot aware of the process for making these changes but surely the users should have a say. It is soo dangerous for the cyclists at the roundabout.

Further to my earlier submission, I'd like to make two more points: That I saw another cyclist this morning. That worth mentioning right? My third, since these laneways opened. The traffic lights at the bridge seem to be out of sync - giving priority to cars joining the road near Fernbank school, not prioritising cars already on the road, some of them coming to the city from other parts to do business. Wouldn't it be interesting to know how many of the cars that join the Condell Road here are parents who have just dropped children off at Ard Scoil Ris or Fernbank. What about a free/ subsidised green school bus carrying out this service, thus taking these cars off the road altogether? Might not that be more of a thought provoking, long term, entirely green alternative to the Micky Mouse lane assignment on the bridge. Yours in awareness, Deirdre Fox

As a driver of a 100% electric car and as a cyclist, I am fully aware of and supportive of the need for us all to reduce our emissions and our carbon footprints. But measures to do so should be safe, appropriate and properly thought out which clearly the new lane assignment on the Shannon bridge is not. I drive across the bridge every day at peak times. Since the introduction of the new cycle lanes I have seen five cyclists, all in the mornings, none in the afternoons. Of these five, one was a postman, a state employee, cycling out from town on the opposite side of the road to the cycle lanes. One was a woman cycling on the pavement, again on the opposite side of the road to the cycle lanes. The third was a person engaged in a survey and/or some type of vehicle counting exercise on the bridge. The last two were using the lanes as intended. The volume of bicycle traffic on this bridge in no way warrants the disruption and tail backs to the motorists that this change has caused. My morning commute has been lengthened considerably, to the extent that I am forced to use and pay for the tunnel when I don't want to. This move is anti-motorist, which is completely the wrong way of going about things. Motorists are never going to be gone. They may reduce slightly, but not to the extent that this change suggests. They will simply be driving different cars, greener cars. The motorists are now and will still be the ones paying motor taxes that maintain our roads. This is a foolish, ill thought out change. Green policies should be a lot more forward thinking than this, based on positive changes, incentive driven changes. Our politicians don't seem to understand that the public would respond much more if there existed tax reductions and or other benefits attaching to green policies, not just higher prices or fines or having to suffer as a result of rash decisions such as this. This change is also anti- business for shops and outlets in the centre of town. Ple

Congested traffic from coinage roundabout the whole way into town every morning. Crazy.

Causing long traffic tailbacks

Several times stuck in traffic going back to Barrington pier. When I get to the bridge, I don't recall seeing 1 bike. Crazy

Very frustrating trying to get our children to school on time for the sake of a few yards for a bycycle lane and then trying to make it to work.

Its the wrong place to put a cycle lane. Traffic has always been an issue here with so many schools in a 5 kilometres of Shannon bridge. An ambulance trying to get over the bridge last fri was a site to see, god help the poor person waiting for it.. Then you have people trying to get to the Raheen industrial estate for work . I'm all for cycle lanes in our city but we need a cycling/ walk only bridge purposely built to facilitate it first.. The planners in the City Council need to wake up.

Late for work everyday since they were installed. Have to use the tunnel and it is too expensive to use everyday. Have already looked for other jobs away from limerick

We need to encourage not discourage shoppers into the city centre. It is also highly inconvenient for those working in the city centre.

Limerick city needs another bridge for when normal traffic resumes, not this

What is the council up to?. Can't they see the city dying?. They seem to be trying their best to kill and bury it all together.

traffic flow is down at the moment, as soon as its back to normal ,traffic will be out to clonmacken again.

Please return the bridge to cars provide a fourth crossing

It is causing chaos and not being used to the extent people are led to believe!!!
