Residents were not properly consulted and if there t is proposed it may be closed for 18 months, this is completely unacceptable! 5 months would have been bad enough.

Having the road closed my journey to school has been extremely stressful having to drive round which feels like the whole of Bideford for a two minute drive.

Unacceptable, DCC need to resolve promptly.
If this was in Exeter a solution would have been found within days.
Email has been sent to Highways and the cabinet member for highways supporting the residents. Not only is it crippling Bideford Town, it is having a detrimental effect wide spread.

Council should not let the developers do what they want. They make millions causing disruption to peoples life, polluting, cutting trees down and getting away with it. All with council permission.

This is impacting my plumbing business massively. I have a large van and have to dotour through Moreton park road 3 or 4 times a day to just get to screwfix. I'm sick of driving past the works and there been nobody working even though the weather is fine. I have worked in construction for over 30 years and know this work could be done in a matter of weeks with minimal access issues if run properly. There is no excuse for a full road closure.

Absolutely ridiculous that no other arrangements were made for residents or anyone wishing to use this road. What soukd take me 3 minutes to visit my mum now takes 15/20 and even then you take chance with the diversions on narrow roads, and huge potholes. No thought was given to this.

Awful driving up moreton park (the diversion) for my child’s school drop offs & pickups. Road is not fit for purpose (pot holes) and so busy.

As stated concern for emergency access. Access to schools, dr surgery. Impossible route down Moreton Park when buses in opposing direction. Night time work would shorten works. Concerns for ancient Devon hedges and wildlife.

To completely close the road is ridiculous, no emergency acess there's is not even pedestrian access, someone from the council should get up from behind their desk and try walking a diversion. A solution with acess for all needs to be found.

If Abbotsham Road is currently too narrow to have single lane work done along the length of it how will it accommodate traffic from the hundreds of houses proposed

I live on lime grove and the traffic had increased on our road as a result. The junction at the bottom of Pitt Lane is a nightmare in the morning as it is now a detor. I work in woolsery so need to access the A39, the extra traffic and having to navigate smaller roads through town adds stress to my morning. I am suprised there has not been a collision, there have been near misses!

These works haves caused major disruption to local residents. The diversion is unsuitable for large vehicles and is causing excessive congestion. The diversion is adding considerable cost to motorists. A further extension of 18 months to this road closure is unacceptable. Developers should be running these services across their own plots not under public roads causing months of road closures.

I understand the need for renewing pipes but when nobody is working on it it seems ridiculous!! Better planning is needed.
