Abbotsham Road Access Issues

I have to drive a long way around and it’s a right pain when driving in from the country.

Since the traffic has been using Moreton Park Road the state of the road is terrible. Do hope the road is repaired soon patching it here and there isn't any good. The whole road will need resurfacing.

This is an unreasonable time scale causing wasted petrol and time for residents that use this road. Alternative routes are unsuitable, narrow and congested.

Total disruption to all the local people and emergency services and delivery drivers. It’s just appalling that this should take 5 months!

It seems that there was very little consideration for the local people when this road closure was put in There could easily be a two way traffic system and use the pavement as the safety zone. It was all done very cloak and dagger

This is ridiculous there is no justification for closing the road for this long huge disruption to our way of lufe

Unnecessary chaos, please explain why traffic management could not have been an alternative to a full closure

As a taxi driver i estimate this closure costs me in excess of £150 per week in lost time which equals lost fares. If having to pick up or drop off in the Londonderry or Abbotsham areas it can cost my customer 2 or 3 times more than the usual fare.

This is unacceptable

Moreton Park Road has now become a rat run. This is a residential road, at times (school drop offs) it is impossible for residents to access or leave their properties. Moreton Park Road should not be subject to this congestion at least twice a day Monday to Friday during term time.

This is a main arterial road from Bideford for residents abbotsham side of Bideford. Causing more traffic chaos through the town.

As a local resident and a community nurse, this extended closure has prohibited both social and professional commutes due to the additional time, fuel costs and wear and tear on my car. In the morning to access Bideford college, cars are queued back down the High Street. Stopping and starting on such a steep hill is a strain on the clutch, handbrakes, fuel consumption for each car having to endure this extensive diversion.

The timescale for this is absolutely ridiculous and inconveniencing so many people , also causing traffic jams everywhere else in the area due to the diversion this is causing.

This is putting my job at risk as i have to drop my kids to breakfast club in abbotsham at 7.30am and then return home to get my work vehicle. And the diversion is so bad it makes me late for work. 20 weeks is disgusting the riad crossing work could have been done in 2 weeks and then traffic lights

I am in agreement with this grievance as it affects my movements in and out of my own home. However, I do not live immediately adjacent to the works but if I did I would not be in favour of 24 hour work.

I agree with everything being said with the exception of 24 hour working as this will impact those houses directly facing the road. Whilst I am not one of these, I think we must look out for all our neighbours.

1. Not informed, no letter, no announcement 2. Progress is at a snails pace 3. No activity at all in first 3 days 4. The workers who do attend seem to do shifts. 1 work, 1 watch, 1 on his phone. I guess they rotate? 5. The diversions are not thought out, they add more traffic to roads that are already very busy 6. To take my children to school less than a mile away takes 40-45 minutes! Each way! Not great for the environment or my fuel bills! I'm told that the road will be dug up again as another company needs access, but the 2 companies can't work on the same road? Someone got a backhanded for this!
