We the undersigned veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses are appalled by the cruelty and incompetence shown in this video.
We feel the refusal to prosecute is for spurious reasons based on inertia and timidity rather than legal precedent.
We urge your organisations to make urgent representations to MPs to make the installation and routine monitoring of CCTV compulsory in all pre-slaughter areas of licensed abattoirs in the UK.
Because of the presence of indisputable evidence not only will the incidence of cruelty be minimised but successful prosecution will be inevitable.

A disgrace to our country. Every effort should be made to end this unspeakable cruelty. We shall not stop people eating meat, but we must protect these vulnerable creatures.No killing without stunning.
The perpetrators should face prosecutions for their aberrant behaviour to revoke their licences is not a deterrent to them or others.

Get cameras in there right now. If they have nothing to hide then let us see what happens behind closed doors. Put an end to this abuse.
How can this still be happening in this day and age?? CCTV is the absolute minimum requirement. Its heartbreaking and shameful.
I want to stop cruelty with animals in abbattours
Its horrendous the cruelty these animals feel pain just like us sickening
