Why all equines aren't chipped like our domestic dogs and cats is beyond me, they should all be traceable and slaughter houses should not accept them with out the correct paperwork although how they would action that is debatable.

if abattoirs insisted on the correct paperwork there wouldnt be the opportunity for scumbags to make a quick buck & it would save a lot of horses.Makes me wonder why we wrre made to have passports.

For all the lost ones, we need to make people accountable for the horses/ponies they send to slaughter. Too many horses/ponies are being stolen and sold for meat, this must stop. Making people provide proof ownership would go a long way to stopping or greatly reducing thefts if those stolen animals were rendered valueless.

Anything that will help horse welfare should be implemented as soon as possible.

No horse should be slaughtered without having a passport, and proof of identity of the person sending the horse in.
