Ridiculous amount of cones and speed restrictions while NO WORK is being done. What the hell are Transport Scotland playing at ? One set of delays at a time please, and only when they are actually needed. Thank you.

got delayed at drumochter on Monday 28th for ages - one of the most frustrating things for motorists is long sections at reduced speed when no workj is being done

I feel the average speed cameras of 40mph are not required on an area where no work is being done.

Nearly an hour wait for the 10mph convoy vehicle to take us past no more than 400yds of resurfacing at Drumochter.

Delays like this never happen in the Netherlands - the most populous country in Europe. There, roadworks are undertaken at night.

I have travelled the a9 for over 45 years and it is the it has ever been one wonders if this would happen around edinburgh or is this a new north south divide.

On a recent trip from Inverness to Glasgow - ridiculous the number of roadworks, and a 40 mph speed restriction when no works actually in progress! This combined with the questionable 50 mph limit for Higgs, makes for longer and frustrating journeys. Not good for anyone.

Between Perth and Inverness today there must have been around a dozen different lots of roadworks - 5 had traffic lights and add to this the diversion via Blair Atholl - where there were also roadworks. why the need to be spending money resurfacing sections that will hopefully be dualled soon?

An absolute disgrace. Cannot see that happening in the south of England. One set of roadworks bad enough! Designed to be anti motorist!!

It took 4 hours to go from Inverness to Perth on Friday afternoon. Loads of speed restrictions and lights but no-one could be seen working at any of the roadworks, apart from 2 guys putting out more cones ready for more delays. It was a pointless delay, even one overtaking section which was totally clear of roadworks has no overtaking signs up and a speed restriction of 40. I suspect it was to allow the capture of more motorists by the average speed cameras who would naturally speed up to overtake as there was no logical reason for the restriction. It was faster before the A9 was built!

I welcome the dualling project, but 10 years of this slow-down - no thanks! The current restrictions seem totally unnecessary and unjustified. Some wag calculated that if this project works as 'efficiently' as the recent Crubenmore dualling section, this project will take 87 years!!

As a resident of the Highlands, the A9 is our only usable road link with the rest of the country. Surely a more user friendly method of organising necessary road works could be worked out!

News release from David Stewart MSP Highlands & Islands (including Moray) MSP, (Scottish Labour) Spokesperson on Transport and local road safety campaigner, David Stewart, has been inundated with complaints form motorists about traffic management and delays on the A9 between Perth and Inverness. “ I have been advised by one motorist that last Sunday , it took her five hours to get from Inverness to Stirling, “ he said. “Another advised me that yesterday it took four hours to get from Inverness to Perth and yet another advised me that it took them over 45 minutes longer to travel the route which normally takes about two hours. “ I have also been advised of five sets of road works between Inverness and Perth, with the road works at Dalwhinnie causing the most problems.” He continued, “ Obviously for the Government and Transport Scotland to build another section of dual carriageway requires road works, but for the five miles between Kincraig and Dalraddy there is currently a 40mph speed limit, yet no road works have started. “It seems the speed restriction is in place, but there are no road workers to protect. “Is there a need for restriction over the whole five miles, can these works not be carried out over shorter distances at any one time? “On 25th September , I wrote to the Transport Minister, Derek Mackay, highlighting the above. “I will now further write asking him to speak with senior officials at Transport Scotland to try and get a better management of the road works on the A9. “I have said before and the Police have also said, that frustration causes collisions. “Driver behaviour is a key area and if we are all trying to make our roads safer then organisations such as Transport Scotland have to show that they are able to manage trunk road systems with an application of strategy, planning and common sense in order that we can prevent adverse driver behaviour caused by frustration. “Today, 30th September, I have set up an i-petition

The road works management is shambolic. Five miles of 40mph between Kincraig and dalraddy and no road works over two weeks yet, seems we are protecting the cones which are situated on the verge anyway. Four other sets of road works. Could some of them not be done at night?
