Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

This bypass will ruin an area of natural beauty and two villages. We are on the cusp of a transport revolution which will see fewer cars on the road and there is a growing awareness of the importance of protecting our environment. Everything about this idea is bad, put the bypass through farmland if you must built one.

It is just so awful to destroy such heritage and beauty :(

Why didn't we see any houses in the official vidio?If you live in Binsted you know that the 5 A option will totally slaughter the area.

Save this irreplaceable landscape for future generations to enjoy from irresponsible cultural vandalism.

More roads lead to more traffic.

Ancient woodlands are ancient and irreplacable. Building extra roads attracts yet more cars and just moves the congestion along to the next bottleneck -it solves nothing and destroys critical resources for our life and well-being. We need to find better ways of travelling sustainably and improving public transport for all.

Route 5a is incredibly damaging to the environment - the historic and ancient woodland complex as well as the local villages. 5A must not go ahead. Highways England have the opportunity to show they see sense and not commit to this most damaging road option.

5a will destroy ancient woodland tha5 cannot be replaced.

As a regular commuter from Westergate to Worthing through Arundel and using the A27 I am incredibly disappointed that the HA would decide on this option.

This plan represents an appalling vandalisation of our natural environment. It is profoundly wrong to despoil our environment for the sake of cars and other vehicles which do so much damage to our climate and environment. Furthermore, easing the Arundel "bottleneck" will merely create another bottleneck elsewhere (Worthing?) and so it will go on and on until we all choke to death.

What on earth is the point of having a National Park if dual carriageways are going to be driven through it !!!! What stupidity - please think again.

This is an outrage and they should be taken to task over their lies

Many fond memories of Banstead, Walberton and area. Damage should be as limited as possible.

The Route through Banstead village will permanently destroy an area of historic interest and natural beauty, and it will significantly impact on wildlife. Worse, it will set a precedent for other road-building schemes promoting the cheapest, as opposed to the most environmentally friendly, options.

There is no evidence building more road will help the traffic problem .Binstead woodland should be protected !!

This will destroy a beautiful area, too much of the country has already been cut up. Ancient woodland must be preserved. It is our future.

There is a balance to be struck between human evolution and destruction of our heritage and Natural beauty . This 5A route seems to be completely out of balance on a number of factors. The cheaper , less damaging routes seem to have been rejected for reasons not clearly understood - are there special ‘interests’ at play here ?

Please dont ruin such a beautiful area for the sake of making car journeys shorter, such devastating news
