Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

The proposed route for the bypass would cause irreparable damage to a very precious environment and would set a precedent for further depredations in national parks

We must chnage opur priorities and put countryside first and ancient woodland and its associated village structure second to none for keeping intact.

I proposed my own route to the highways agency in which they replied they wouldnt consider it. so I supported the better not bigger campaign. there is no need to destroy all the local habitats and encourage additional house building along it. Although traffic through the Arundel area can be slow right now, we don't know how transport will develop in coming years. for example disused railways may be put back into use, there are flying vehicles and drone delivery services that will reduce congestion and more people working from home with no commute.

Consider other less damaging options

Our countryside is being ripped apart. If they do this all ancient woodlands and national parks will be at risk

Please think of the future, we need trees & woodland.

What is the point of the South Downs National Park if this damaging project can be allowed?

I am totally against any option and feel it is a massive waste of money which will destroy beautiful countryside to save a few minutes on a journey.

We can’t lose these beautiful water meadows

We petition the Secretary of State for Transport, the South Downs National Park Authority, Highways England, Nick Herbert MP, West Sussex County Council, Arun District Council, Arundel Town Council and Walberton Parish Council, to: REJECT Option 5A for the Arundel bypass through Binsted and Tortington villages and countryside and the Arun valley watermeadows. RECOMMEND that other options, less damaging to countryside and villages, should be considered. Reasons: The historic village of Binsted is set in wooded countryside in the parish of Walberton, West Sussex. Partly within the National Park, it is a haven for wildlife, with an active community and rural businesses. Many visitors value Binsted for quiet recreation. Option 5A would sever Binsted’s community, and destroy its beauty and tranquillity. It would also damage the historic village and landscape of Tortington near Arundel.

I oppose the 5A option on the grounds that it will destroy habitat!

We do need a better Road, but not this one... What about a tunnel?

I believe this is the wrong route, the purple route would make less environmental impact and be more beneficial in the long term.

Option 5A . The small gains in travel time , is not worth the decimation of important countryside used by those very same travellers to relieve the stress of living in built up areas . Online improvements are the answer

No more destruction, nature can't restore so quickly

Enough of the arun district is going under concrete, make what is existing better not bigger!

We have to protect our environment for future generations.

It's never going to happen. We can be sure of that!

Protect Binsted from Arundel Bypass 5A

Another disasterous decision for the natural environment. Roads are overcrowded because too many people drive cars. Food local public transport is the answer NOT more road building.
