Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

I echo my wife's (Mrs H V Maxwell) sentiments. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful place on our doorstep. It MUST be preserved. Birds & wildlife, NOT CARS.

I live in Selsey with my husband; but we often visit the South Downs National Park, & treasure it for what it is. How dare the government do this - to save 6 MINUTES!!?? - OUTREAGEOUS!. It won't save the wildlife habitats or the beautiful villages in the area. We are both VERY concerned about MORE DESTRUCTION of our countryside, for no good reason.

An alternative should be sought which will minimise destruction of wildlife and habitats. They have as much right to life as we do.

There is never an excuse for destroying ancient woodlands. The UK has few wild places left (that aren't uplands), Ancient Woodlands are part of our heritage. I have spent many holidays in this area and Binsted, the woods are so wildlife rich, they must be protected.

The time to reconsider our 'entitlement' to destroy the natural environment has come.

Concerned and saddened ex-resident of Binsted, 1960-1972. Amazing historic tracks through Binsted Woods connecting Binsted to Arundel. Many family members buried in churchyard. Bypasses tend to generate more traffic, because it becomes easier to travel in the short term, attracting more use and hence defeating the purpose. The very few minutes saved in journey time will be lost again in a few years. Pointless and a tragic waste.

Cutting through Binsted demonstrates a lack of value given to rural community, ancient woodland and wildlife. Despite living away from Binsted for a long time I have always considered the place to be an exceptional wild haven and that it should be protected.

I do hope you manage to save this beautiful aprtof the word from destruction.

I am perplexed and very concerned about the shoddy environmental consideration given to this proposal and it’s potential impacts on such a biodiverse area.

The proposed A27 Arundel Bypass would destroy one of our country's most inspiring rural landscapes. This cannot be allowed.

Route option 5a would destroy a wide swathe of countryside and 2 villages, and isn't really necessary to relieve the traffic problems at Arundel. There is another option which is shorter and much less intrusive on the countryside.

Opyion 5A carves up irreplaceable ancient woodland and separates wildlife and human communities. It reduce quality of life for every one. We wunt be druv.

Our natural environment is in short supply in the south of England. Protecting it should be the first consideration, not some nice to have.
