Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

Makes no sense at all

We do need a better bypass just do it without destroying so much country side that has so much historical importance

By its very nature, ancient woodland is irreplaceable. Modern life and engineering mean we must protect the pockets of ancient, and biodiversity, woodlands that have survived so far. Please work towards a better solution than this.

Hope you win they are taking enough wild life away, the way they are going our children want now what's it like walking in the country side.

This will not make sufficient improvement to the traffic issues of A27 Arundel through to Chichester to warrant destruction of irreplaceable woodland and species of wildlife and plants. This is not even a short term fix- chichester is grid locked frequently so no value added in taking a few minutes off the road journey around Arundel. Waste of public money and destruction of our countryside.

This is the most damaging of the three Options to the natural and rural environment and to the special qualities of the South Downs National Park.

I use the A27 and have known the Arundel area since childhoood. I absolutely oppose this damaging proposal.

Find a Binsted tree that stands alone. Stay beneath its canopy for just 10 minutes. In the flickering light trace the complexity of branches above. Marvel at the labyrinth of weaving wood destined for our Sun. Absorb the scent of a million leaves breathing clean oxygen into every lung. Damp wood incense, dry blossom perfume. Real aromatherapy. Listen to the tide of air funnelling and fluttering. Through ebb and flow a unique percussive sound of shimmers and whispers. If there’s calm, find the melody of a blackbird or nightingale, the hum of a stag beetle or the fall of an acorn. Then imagine what this mighty wooded sentinel saw, long, long before you. A battle, a plague, a hurricane, forests? And how long after you, perhaps a thousand years. 50 generations of children, playing, sheltering, discovering. Touch the bark. Brush a leaf. Pick up a seed – feel the life this amazing tree gives. Now, move on to the next Binsted tree. Stand for just 10 minutes. Almost everything is different, but just as wonderful …

We don't need anymore roads through the countryside.

This area is a precious legacy and needs to be protected and consideration should be made for alternative routes.

It would be criminal to carve up this land in favour of yet another highway....have you ever been there? It's a little piece of heaven. More roads just encourages more traffic instead of forcing people and logistic companies to consider using other means of transport.

Let's have a review, before any work is undertaken.

No more countryside ripped up for roads. The more roads the more cars - it will not stop this. Drastic action now has to be taken regarding transportation and building even more roads is not the answer.

We do not need more roads, but cheaper and better railway connections and cycle networks.

Please take care of our natural environment; if only we would do so with the fervour and determination of the French. who truly care for their surroundings.

Why keep destroying our beautiful landscapes like this?

Building more roads is not the answer to mitigate congestion. It’s just the lazy way. There are always solutions. I used to live near Arundel. It would be inexcusable to go ahead with this monstrous bypass.

We are slowly demolishing our beautiful countryside for the Almighty Car and Lorries. Each journey I take there will be yet another soulless housing development and so it will be with any road development.
