Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

We can never replace this beautiful land once it’s gone. This cannot proceed. No only will trees disappear forever but so will the wildlife. And all to save 8 mins. Shameful

The government has declared a climate emergency. This goes against everything which needs to be done to achieve emission targets and stem the collapse of biodiversity. Once it’s gone - it’s gone

I know this area well and am horrified at the thought of it being destroyed by yet more roads.

Ancient woodland and wood pasture is irreplaceable. The Climate Emergency demands that these habitats are left intact, and that active travel measures (public transport, cycling, walking) are prioritised to ease congestion and air pollution. It is necessary to reduce use of fossil fuels as soon as possible, so major road schemes are not appropriate.

Once this precious and vital part of England is gone, it will be gone for good, never to be replaced. The environmental and local community impact would be devastating if Option 5A of Highways England's plan were to go ahead. I fully support Binsted's campaign to stop Option 5A of Highways England's plan to decimate this area and urge them to find an alternative route.

Baby cows are torn from their mothers so they don’t drink their mothers milk, so humans can drink it. The male baby cows get killed and sold as veal as they are useless to the dairy industry. Then the milk is sold in the super market and we get told it’s made for humans. That is how cows milk is made. Go vegan :)

There is a climate emergency!!! We should be investing in walking/cycling and public transport.

Chichester District Council has declared a climate emergency. Both proposed Arundel and Chichester bypasses will increase dangerous greenhouse gas emissions and undermine the government's 2050 Zero emissions target. The car is old technology. The future is public transport. Air quality is being eroded. More roads endanger health.

My husband and l used to live in Storrington and love Arundel and its surroundings. There has got to be a better way of solving the current traffic problem. I say current because all the signs are that car ownership in particular will decline in the future in favour of greater use of public transport, shared ownership, trip specific use of driverless cars, etc. Any new road scheme constructed now will almost certainly be redundant within a very few years.

Building a new bypass through ancient woodland will cause irreversible damage and makes no sense when we all need to be tackling climate change

Protect our woodlands and animals alike.

Keep ancient woodlands intact, once gone never regained. NO TO OPTION 5A

Please do not destroy yet another beautiful natural environment. Once the road is put through its just a matter of time until it is surrounded by yet another massive sprawl of houses. I love this place as do lots of others and I can't imagine it gone after being here for hundreds of years. The nature here is enormous, rare species and great diversity of nature. Let's keep it as nature intended and leave well alone.

The damage a bye pass will do to the countryside is unforgivable. The road will increase flooding, isolate our protected spe ices like the door mice and damage the south downs. Binsted Woods is the last species corridor connecting the south downs to the coastal plain. Binsted Woods is a living museum of rare spe ies, bat's, dormice, flora and funa. The road must have a tunnel under this wood and keep the aesthetic look of Arundel.

We all need to be re-educated about how we use the car. Rail, bus and pedal cycles can be excellent alternatives.

Please do not destroy such precious and what has been agreed as 'protected' areas of ancient woodland, nature, wildlife and natural beauty. Please listen to and compromise with the local residents, do not ignore them, they live there and want protect the environment for generations to come so If you have to build a bypass, please go with option 1, the purple route.
