Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

This whole by pass scheme has not been thought through enough, it too big and too long, cars can turn corners and the by pass doesn’t need to have cars doing 70 miles an hour

Given the climate emergency, how can anyone even consider this ? How long before the decision-makers realise that providing more roads is just encouraging more and faster motoring ? Trying to cure congestion by road-building is like tryng to cure children of eating too much by giving them more food - if fact it's even worse, because children may make themselves sick and resolve to eat less in future, whereas motorists just blame everyone else for the continuing congestion. (Even a child knows you can't be sick as a result of anyone else's overeating.)

Who are the people without thought for their children and grandchildren. For the sake of everyone's future let's stop building extra capacity for polluting vehicles through the permanent destruction of our wonderful environment.

The road will be redundant in 10/15 years anyway. Only idiots would trade miles of countryside for 10 mins of traffic.

the depredations of the countryside in the South East are already at an unsustainable level. Every new encroachment upon our National Parks should be halted

We are in a climate emergency. Driving a bypass through this ancient woodland and Sussex villages is ecocide. Save our countryside. I use the A27 regularly but totally support this campaign to save the woodlands

Over the last forty years Britain has attempted to reduce motor vehicle congestion by building more road and 'improving' and widening existing ones. This policy has served only to increase traffic to the point where we now have 38m vehicles on our roads (1960s = 6-10m). Despite the clear evidence that the policy does not work, Highways England seems determined to continue ruining our landscape and our environment with yet more schemes such as this one at Arundel. It must be stopped.

We only have 20% native woodland left in this country, why on earth would you be destroying what we should be now ferociously protecting!!!?

We need to stop concreting over the beauty of our planet and rethink our relationship with it. The need for a huge chunk of road is overstated and literally overkill.

We need trees and this wood is peaceful and uniquely beautiful with its variety and babbling brooks.

This wanton destruction by Highways England is appalling. We need to mitigate the worst effects of climate change and address species loss and to destroy a village for the sake of the car is immoral.

no way you can ruin all this beauty just to save people 5mins a day in a car !

It is imperative to save our trees and animals, a beautiful environment threatened with extinction, to preserve nature for our children and grandchildren.
