Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

The grey route must not be built.

Please reject the grey route option and consider other options, less damaging to the countryside and villages. We should be doing everything we can to preserve our beautiful countryside, not planning unnecessary large roads that cost significantly more than the alternatives such as the Arundel alternative suggestion.

Highways England don't seem to have a sensible, realistic, environmental, or historical bone in their corporate body. I would be very grateful for a rethink from them.

The Grey route is a bad choice for everyone, destroying village communities, the countryside and the environment. It is also as massive waste of public funds that can be much better spent elasware, especially during the pandemic. It will solve nothing. Traffic will just get to the next bottleneck sooner. It must not be built.

It would be much more cost effective and better for the environment and natural beauty of the area to expand the A27 as originally planned. A large amount of money has already been spent assessing the 5 possible ways to do this, which were reviewed by local citizens in Chichester.

A very short-sighted and destructive decision. Previous lessons have evidently not been learned: it is merely a bottle-neck mover.

Stop building it is so selfish and damaging

In order to by pass Arundel, Highways England's solution is not only build a dual carriageway through beautiful water meadows and unspoilt countryside ,something which is increasingly rare south of the A 27 and the National Park, but to destroy three beautiful, ancient Sussex villages. This road will completely divide and destroy the beautiful thriving parish of Walberton and Binsted.

In a world where we should be reducing the number of cars on the road rather than pandering to an unsustainable need, it makes even less sense to bulldoze through woodland and villages to create an unnecessary dual carriageway bypass - the Arundel alternative is the best possible amendment to an already far too destructive problem.

To put forward the Grey Route as the preferred option is quite outrageous and undermines the credibility of the consultation process. That process was so flawed at so many levels and yet throughout the process no admission was forthcoming that the discrepancies negated HE's conclusions. To present the Grey Route as a better environmental solution is ridiculous. This scheme must be withdrawn now, before more money is spent on this ignorant proposal. No Bypass is infinitely preferable to this Bad Bypass.

The grey route will destroy Walberton as a quiet English village.
