Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

This would be a huge intrusion for some truly beautiful Sussex villages. Surely a route that did not alter forever historic wonderful villages could be found. This would be devastating for these villages and their residents!

A beautiful peaceful area that shouldn't be changed in any way..

I walked to Binsted church yesterday. It was so peaceful there and I can't believe that anyone would want to build such a noisy polluting road so close to it.

Travesty to even think this is acceptable

I have visited relatives in both Tangmere and Walburton for the last 30 years and whilst a bypass in neccessary for Arundel and Chichester the Grey route appears to be the worst choice and it destroys the countryside the most of all the options

A disgrace that in this day and age these sort of projects are still being considered. We must look for new ways to travel and stop lining the pockets of big business at the expense of our environment.

This is not required as dual carriageway with more people working from home and less cars on the road, the alternative option is better with less of an environmentalism pact. Highways England think again?

Having lived in that area, I’m still not sure why Highways England think there is a need for this bypass. There are much better ways to spend public money and not harm the environment.

A 40 m.p.h. single carriageway should be built, not the invasive dual.

Don’t ruin more villages and peoples communities . These fields are locals escape for family walks, dog walks, horse riding, places to go without getting in the car. Places to go that wrap up and get going.

Devastated to see work has begun. I didn't think that planning permission had been granted?

The grey route has severe and fundamental flaws, it push’s traffic onto rat runs through conservation villages - Walberton, Binsted and Fontwell and INCREASES journey time by 12 mins for those living in the surrounding villages to access it. Another route has got to be sought as this is route is doing the OPPOSITE to what we were buying into. It serves no purpose for the main stakeholders whose villages countryside and land is going to be destroyed in its path. The current A27 at Fontwell, Walberton and Binstead is working fine, it is a good road and serves its purpose well, so why bring a problem that surrounds Arundel out to impact these villages and make void a good working road. There is no justification for this spend or this choice of route. There are much better options that the people voted for - relook at these, we have waited along time for this- we deserve better.

A complete waste of money as it will only save 9 mins of journey time yet ruin many people’s homes and lives and destroy our beautiful countryside.

This road plan will destroy and make life a misery in Walberton

The proposed grey route should not be given the go ahead for a multitude of reasons, the primary ones being the negative effect it will have on the countryside & villages it will pass through (surely a bypass, bypasses housing & schools). Also I firmly believe the money could be & should be spent on improving the current crumbling roads in the area before any new roads are contemplated.

The least appropriate scheme, astronomical cost, will not resolve any traffic issues but WILL destroy the quality of rural life in this area.

Making the local village a rat run for people to get around, which then will be dangerous for the local residents, horse riders and wildlife around the area. I have seen and heard cars speeding through the local area already and the local deer being killed. I thought the government wanted to get cars off the road not more on to go faster and cause more of a danger and pollution to the air we breathe.

Ruining villages. Ultra expensive. Moving jam to Fontwell East Alternatives possible but not used.
