Stop the Arundel Bypass - Save Arundel's Countryside

Only 7% want grey route. Cost Benefit Ratio does not support this scheme. Costs have doubled. 0ver £500m to move the problem to Fontwell. Walberton and Binstead will be devastated with the road and rat runs. 1300 extra cars on the street and West Walberton Lane. Unacceptable pollution levels for primary school.

This proposal is far too expensive and of no benefit. If this government is serious about meeting net zero targets they should abandon it now.

The Grey route, Highways England's fourth attempt at a long new Preferred Route for the A27 around Arundel, is disproportionately expensive and damaging. The 8km dual new Grey Route will cause local species extinctions, wreck local rural communities, and make the climate and environment emergency worse. The Arundel Alternative is affordable and supported by the environmental organizations I care about future generations, species loss and climate change I care about the countryside and rural communities. The historic village of Binsted is set in wooded and wetland countryside in the parish of Walberton, West Sussex, and Tortington is also a historic wooded and wetland estate landscape. Partly within the National Park, these areas are a haven for wildlife, with an active community and rural businesses in them and in Walberton Binsted and Fontwell - Many visitors value the area for quiet recreation. The noise and visual damage to a much-visited area of the National Park would be severe, and the damage to the beauty of Arundel's watermeadows even greater than when this was the reason for cancelling a previous Preferred Route in 1993.

Environmental distruction. Huge traffic implications - just pushing the problems to another area. An appalling waste of money. Improve public transport instead.

Absolutely terrible idea. How anyone with half a brain cell could support the grey route is beyond me. Cuts through countryside, wildlife habitats and villages to save a fabled few minutes from a journey. The number of under and over passes together with the viaduct is ridiculous. Stop this nonsense.

Please re-do the cost benefit & traffic analysis on the plan before any ground is broken, the world has changed. Please please Save: 1. The environment 2. The communities 3. Tax payers money, the costing is now beyond a joke.

This road can't go ahead, its an utter disgrace. It improves nothing, if a development is to happen then improve the roundabouts at chichester. You can travel the whole length of the country and the only place you'll get stuck in traffic is chichester. Ruining Walberton, Binsted and other surrounding areas to speed traffic up into chichester is ridiculous all for 600 million... the Slindon route makes far for sense and is alot less money.

This road will cost a sickening amount of money and will barbarically tear through several villages. It must not go ahead.

I lived in the village for many years and my parents are still there as are many friends. This will ruin people's lives.

Stop destroying local villages and communities

This choice of the grey route makes a mockery of air pollution, wrecking green belt land, trees and wildlife. The cost is spiralling out of control when we owe trillions as a country and need more hospitals schools doctors surgery's and dentists. Money that can be spent on vital resources. Think again Highways England!!!

I lived in walberton when I was young I know the village won’t cope with the increase in traffic expected the roads are too small for the influx that will happen as well as being dangerous for the children going to the school.

Please don't ruin this beautiful and peaceful area.

The cost to save 9 minutes travel time and destroy our beautiful countryside is far to great a price to pay.

Lived in this area as a child. Aru del has always been a bottle neck for traffic but this proposal ruins beautiful, unspoilt and valuable countryside, wrecking villages and people's lives along the way. Far too close to schools and homes - massive pollution issues too. Hardly in line with reducing our carbon footprint to ruin a vast area of countryside including water meadows and valuable wildlife corridors.

This is an awful scheme and must be stopped
