Why ruin our beautiful countryside for ever when the polluting vehicles will be a thing of the past by the turn of the century?

The bypass is inessential and will cause pollution and the decimation of nature. Preserving the ecology and Britain’s rural character is imperative. Don’t bang another nail in the country’s coffin.

As a regular user of the A27, I absolutely disagree with the A27 widening scheme at a cost to the natural environment and species extinction. The financial cost of £1.2B alone is totally incomprehensible at such a small time-saving of 9 minutes. Perhaps Highways England should adopt the alternative scheme proposed by the Arundel Alternative, they should have no excuse to not accept this.

I have sent a couple of emails to Highways England pleading for them to stop this terrible scheme to protect our environment and wildlife. I am desperately worried for Sussex's future. Too many housing estates equates to too much environmental destrauction and the demand for road widening at a cost to our precious wildlife and environment. Sussex is in a perilous state. So sad.

too much serious climate change impact, including in construction, destroying peace of the Arundel area especially

We cannot afford to build roads when there is so much else in crisis where the funds could be better spent e.g. the NHS and social care problems. We should be safeguarding the countryside and farmland is needed as a strategic resource in case of war and food shortages, and the environmental destruction and negative effect re carbon should stop this project going ahead. More money needs to go into public transport to get us away from the negative and destructive effect of road-building.

Please do the right thing and stop this now The countryside is being destroyed which has a knock on effect on the environment and wildlife. The terrible flooding that was everywhere here is intertwined with this. We do not have infrastructure to deal with changes and suggest people making decisions come and live in the village not remotely

Stop the proposed Arundel road, bypasses don’t work

I am hugely concerned to hear about the proposed Arundel bypass - a road I travel on frequently when visiting my daughter. My objections regarding the whole scheme are The construction of the 8km dual carriageway will have huge carbon emissions and make a devastating impact on the climate and on the biodiversity of the area The spoiling of the water meadows south of Arundel which are part of the beauty of the town as well as a fabulous habitat for wildlife. The cost! We should be promoting public transport not building new roads which encourage increased car use. There appears to have been no consideration of the Arundel Alternative which seems a much more sensible solution to solving the problem taking into account the Climate Emergency and when the money could be spent in areas where the need is much more urgent. I’m opposed to the grey route because it will not achieve anything more than the yellow route, however the yellow alternative route will bypass the slow hill and roundabout, not destroy wildlife life including mature trees and will cost significantly less, as a daily user of the road i an see that the alternative route is all that’s needed.

In the current times, all environmentally destructive developments should, as a matter of course, be stopped, especially if there is a less destructive alternative.

Please, please stop the environmental destruction caused by the continuing expansion of the A27. The proposed by-pass won't alleviate traffic, but encourage even more. Enough is enough!

Destruction of beautiful countryside when car and lorry traffic should be reducing is insane. Plus the terrible noise and air pollution and the ugliness of huge concrete highways in the middle of exceptional greenery. One might say that the planners are deeply in love with their computer simulations but have no feelings for the real environment and a greener future. Anyway I'm sure this crazy plan will be kicked out by the appropriate authority.

Just make the A27 wider, Arudel already has a Bypass

The Arundel Bypass should not go ahead. A more constructive method of dealing with heavy traffic through Arundel should be found. The beautiful countryside, the wildlife and flora which exists in the pathway of the planned bypass is too precious to be sacrificed for traffic congestion. Once a beautiful stretch of countryside like this is destroyed, it is gone forever- the character of the countryside around Arundel will be lost. The plan for the Arundel Bypass is destructive and heartbreaking.

Negative effects on environment and wildlife. Opposite to reducing carbon footprint and costly in every way

The grey route is an appalling waste of money when the Arundel Alternative is available at a fraction of the cost. Also a complete waste of a few miles of existing first class dual carriageway. Also wanton, unnecessary destruction of a large swathe of countryside adjacent to Arundel.

This is an unneeded rape of the countryside, detrimental in many ways and will cause problems further up the A27. Do not proceed.

I don’t need a solution that gets me to Chichester 9 minutes quicker by permanently destroying a huge area of valuable natural habitat and ruining the villages of Binstead and Tortington. The Alternative Route proposed by the Arundel Bypass Neighbourhood Committee will provide a smooth flow of traffic that still saves me journey time and reduces pollution for much reduced financial and environment costs in comparison to the Grey Route.
