As a resident of the area I find it a travesty that I have to constantly be on the lookout for motorists that speed down residential streets and do not care about the safety of pedestrians. Mohammad 'Naiem' Uddin was killed crossing the street that I live on and nothing has changed with regards to pedestrian safety on the street since that poor child was killed.

If these proposals are implemented,
curbside parking in front of the businesses on the south side of Caton Avenue (east of Ocean Parkway) must be restricted so that trucks can park and unload their merchandise for those businesses.

I am a teacher at PS 130 and work with the very students that this project can protect. With the September opening of another school building on Caton Avenue bringing a surge of children to the area, this project seems like a no-brainer!

Yesterday I screamed to stop a driver who was backing up from the access road on Ocean Parkway into the intersection to get onto Caton Ave. He nearly plowed down an elderly woman! It was very close. I have two small children and the streets here are a mess. Please help make our neighborhood safer. Thank you!

I live on Caton Avenue and the trucks, traffic and speeding is horrific. I look forward to the proposed changes moving forward. It's a great start. Thank you.

The community has spoken! It's time for Caton Avenue to get an upgrade that reflects the safety needs of community members walking in Kensington-Windsor Terrace.

The traffic is crazy (drivers speeding) on not only Caton Ave but also on Ocean Parkway between Caton Ave and Caton place. A speed bumb was installed but drivers still speed over it.

I think it is a start but long term solutions need to be sort. There need to be a foot bridge added at Vanderbilt Street and East 5th Street to create a unified and fluid Windsor Terrace the neighborhood is disjointed and traveling to the subway from Vanderbilt Street and 20th Street is taxing. There has been no transportation improvements in the area and the Transportation officials have not offered any solutions.

We need to take care of the old trees around the new school too. It can be dangerous for all the new students. Such as on kermit place ( behind the new school ). Thanks

Every day I see drivers make very fast, tight left turns from Caton Ave. onto (much narrower) Ocean Parkway. They're going 30–40 mph and are desperate to make the light and are not thinking at all about pedestrians. They are in highway-driving mode. I often see them end up stopped sideways in the oncoming traffic lane, nearly hitting or rolling dangerously toward, say, a school kid they didn't notice in time. Sometimes pedestrians must actually run out of the way of turning cars. If a person jaywalks across Ocean Parkway a few feet north of the crosswalk (as people often do), they are invisible and could very easily be killed. Sometimes people stupidly doublepark on Ocean Parkway, or turn left and then right onto Kermit Pl. I have seen nonlethal accidents, multiple people almost run down, occasional brake squealing, and numerous screaming fights. Among the people I have seen threatened are a man in a wheelchair, many old people, developmentally disabled adults who live in our building, and parents with strollers—all crossing with the light. I also know that people have died there and in other horrible intersections nearby, and serious accidents have occurred. What will it take for the city to do something about it!?

I am a parent of two students at PS 130 and I am a driver that passes the intersection twice daily. That intersection is dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately. The cars are speeding by to get to parkside ave, the street suddenly curves, and thee are little to no white lines dividing the lanes.

reate a safer pedestrian crossing at the Northbound Ocean Parkway Service road by adding a left turn signal which will delay vehicles from making a turn from Caton Ave while pedestrians cross and will reduce pedestrian-vehicle conflict

Considering all of the schools along Caton Avenue, and with the addition of PS/IS 437, it is absurd that this a truck route that is incredibly busy and dangerous!

Additionally, Caton Avenue should not be a truck route. Caton Avenue is a residential street and large freight trucks should not be allowed on it.

As a parent of a child who will be attending PS/IS 437 next year I'm very concerned about the current traffic situation in the area. I'm supportive of all the traffic calming measures proposed.
