A Proposal to Name the Wharton High School Auditorium in Honor of James ‘Jas’ Warren’s Lifelong Dedication to Theatre Education

Jas Warren was an excellent theatre teacher. My daughter Kristin looked up to him with so much respect and inspiration. He was truly one of a kind.

It's the right thing to do. Thank you, Mr. Warren for showing me one of my earliest examples of the importance of stewarding the things we love with the highest of standards.

I can still remember walking into the auditorium for the first time. I had just moved to Tampa as a junior and was having trouble making friends. Empire Records rehearsals were in full swing. I was home. Everything changed. I found my tribe. Warren fostered that. It wasn’t just “theatre”, it was an experience. For the performers and the audience. That experience took me to all kinds of interesting places. The journey of my life all hinged on walking into that auditorium. That theatre. Thank you James for creating that experience for us.

I was never his student but he taught me better at life. I cannot think of a better way to honor his memory than this.

I was one of his students 25 years ago and know first-hand the impact he has had on the lives of young people for many years

Mr. Warren was not only a wonderful teacher but a great man. He left his mark on many, including my daughter, Kristen. He will never be forgotten for not only his teaching, but for his life lessons. Naming the auditorium after Mr. Warren would be a great tribute to an amazing person.

I can’t think of a better way to honor this incredible human who made such an impact on so many lives. Rest in Peace, Mr. Warren.

I can't believe it wasn't named after James from the very beginning. He made that theater what it is, and all those trod the boards there owe him a debt of gratitude.

I couldn't agree more! Not only was the auditorium essentially Mr. Warren's sanctum, it was where he made magic! I couldn't think of a better honor than to name the auditorium after him & forever allow so many future generations see his name & find out who this brilliant, talented man was. Let's get this done!
