A Plea for Religious Freedom and Integrity

As long as a person or group of people are trying to stand up for God and his word there should not be any interference or threats of them losing their church property,but only if their standing up for God and his ways according to his true word.

Although we have already resigned from the church we lived in Peoria, i believe that history will show that grace and justice will prevail.

Our UMC church did not disaffiliate soon enough, we have a godly pastor at this time from Kenya.

We left our UMC church last year. My spouse had been a member for 71 years. I was a member for 56 yesrs. It was not easy. It’s like losing a dear friend. Our church was not given the chance to vote as there are too many liberals within the congregation.

This trust clause is not conducive to a growing faith community it is rather a controlling means of stifling growth.

My great grandfather was a Methodist pastor. He would be shocked at how far the denomination has come away from the Bible's standards.

They changed the discipline to fit their agenda but now they say the discipline cannot be changed. I don’t understand, but I’m just a simple person.

I left the UMC after being a member for 75 years. I joined a wonderful Methodist Church which left the UMC and is thriving in the GMC.

If they insist on doing this to the Scripture-faithful Methodist congregations, then the communicants have no choice but to form non-denominational Word churches.

My church in SoCal did not even get a chance to vote whether to disaffiliate or not because our pastor at the time feared losing members over it.

I’m a cradle United Methodist who after 58 years was embarrassed by the UMC Virginia conference land grab of New Town United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. The only grace in this interaction was by the New Town congregation

Please allow the churches to keep the buildings they have invested in with their money and their hearts.

Be like the Central Texas Conference trustees and release people acting in good conscionce

We were fortunate to be able to leave under 2553. I plea with the leadership of the UMC to let your light shine and do as you preach, "Do no harm" and allow churches to leave that do not want to remain yoked.

I grew up in a UMC but I am ashamed at the recent news. I am now supporting a GMC church.

I agree with everything that I read before I signed the petition. I pray that the hearts of the Southern California UMC Conference will allow our church to disaffilliate without undue stress.
