As a dance A level student myself, I think it's absolutely appalling about the lack of recognition the creative arts have/are getting. I am hoping for a successful career in the musical theatre industry and if I'd have been 2 or 3 years younger, it's sad to think that my ambition of achieving a job in the industry would've, arguably, been shattered by those who are potentially thinking about withdrawing dance at A2. This is simply ignorance at its finest.

I took GCSE dance in the hopes to take A-Level. It will be a shame to not be able to do this course as I feel it will impact on career prospects

It's such a shame and disappointing that Dance A Level can now not be offered at this late stage and after having letters confirming you could study the course.

i'm a professional dancer, whose trained at Trinity Laban. i think it is appalling how there has been threats to cut arts funding. without my gcse and a level in dance i would not be where i am now. It's such an important subject it allows students to express themselves in a way subjects like history and geography cant. Arts especially dance; are hard enough as an industry to get into anyway. why would you want to make it harder? Do you have a vaild reason why arts don't deserve the same funding as your other subjects? cause i would be more than happy to hear it. If you cut Arts you cut everything that allows people to be unique and different. So unless you want to live in a world with no expression. Let the kids have the choice of career instead of enforcing it on them.

It would be good if schools stop seemingly bowing down to blinkered mp's who want everyone to take academic subjects - get it through your heads that dance IS NOT a soft subject and every child be it male or female are NOT all academically minded so you must allow children to express themselves in the way they are best at at and will get the best result they possibly can!
STOP BOWI.G DOWN TO THE MUPOETS THAT ARE BLIMKERED AND STAND UP.FOR YOUR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS!

I know a lot of people who would like to do this a level and some people actually need the a level to Persue their choosen carer choice!

Don't get rid of it because quite a lot of people want to do it and it would not be fair as some people want to do dance as a career..that's just like scrapping drama..which i would not be happy about:/

Just because dance is seen as a soft subject by universities, Gordano should not base their decision on this as not everyone wants to follow this route and for some students dance may be vital for their future career which the school are limiting. Dance has developed many skills I'll use in later life and this shouldn't be stopped for others.
