The fact that you have said this anonymously shows that you obviously know that you're wrong. I suggest you educate yourself on the subject of Dance itself before commenting. I'm sorry to hear about your psychology teachers, but you should be grateful that you still have a course to see through.

I find it appalling that a school that can unnecessarily spend 1000s of pounds on a new uniform can somehow not afford to continue a deserved dance programme. This school gladly takes pride in its performing arts side and yet here it is, cutting an A Level that is in demand and seeing the entire music department leave this year. The fact that Gordano sees dance as a less important subject than PE or business studies purely based on the number of students who want to take it disgusts me, as does the hypocrisy. I'm sure all my fellow students will have sat through an assembly ranting on about how we must be individual and have a 'growth' mindset; yet here is an example of the school itself doing the exact opposite of that! As a student it is so disappointing to be part of a school that does not stand for its beliefs.

Performing arts as a whole should be seen just as important to academic subjects. It allows people to express their self in a artistic way. There has been a massive growth in the popularity for dance over the last few years and each day it is growing with a wider variety of people getting involved. The government always moan on about children living a healthy life style but surely dance is a lot more active then being sat at a desk listening to a teacher? I am disgusted to read this and think it is a massive shame if there is not the option to continue and progress further in dance.

This is a course that the students are passionate about and will give them the foundation towards their chosen career in arts. Arts are continually being cut in the media and soon the UK will be out of touch with the rest of the World in this sector. This should not influence the need to cut this course in schools. Students are encouraged to follow their passion and should be supported in this. I am an agent for clients in the entertainment industry and early training, development benefit students hugely.

You clearly don't know dance A-Level then. "Flapping your arms about" is something you'd do in a primary school production, not at an A-Level. I know many people that have studied it at 6th form and has actually benefitted them and if they didn't take it they wouldn't be where they are today as uni's wouldn't of accepted them. If you didn't know dance A-Level consists of theory as well as practical, having theory links in with English so it's not a 'soft' subject.

Wasting money on kids pretending to be trees and swaying in the background, maybe a few kids running round flapping their arms pretending to be birds. It's ridiculous, focus on a REAL education and if you're good enough work your way to the top. Cutting my psychology teachers from 5 down to 1 because of lack of money, you guys need to grow up. You're not going to make it because of an a level in a shit school.

The Arts ARE important. We are in danger of losing so much. I have a BSc in Chemistry and taught A Level for eleven years. I also have Music Diplomas and have taught singing for nearly twenty years. I have used all my skills and knowledge to inform my teaching. Young people need the creativity of the Arts - not just a succession of academic subjects and facts. One feeds the other.

Schools should embrace subjects which give different opportunities and learning curves to those which are accademic based. Cuts should not be shown by subject limitation.
