Why scrap the subject when some people need this qualification to get to the places they wanna get to!?

I'm not even doing a-level and even I understand the importance to keep a subject such as dance. If you are getting rid of subjects, why get rid of the unique ones when you're keeping academic ones that are not much different from eachother. I thought the school strived for variety?

I have been dancing since the age of three and it is where I am happiest. Getting rid of A-Level Dance completely limits those who do not have the means to attend an arts-focused college to a set of subjects they do not enjoy. A-Level Dance may not be an 'academic subject' however is much more useful for a career in this art than any other subject. Please take into consideration the future of students who would love to do the thing that makes them happiest.

It is sad to see the loss of emphasis on the creative arts with excuse of cost cutting. This is a minimal cost

I accidentally deleted a comment it said something along the lines of "creative arts students still have to take academic subjects but people who are strong at doing academic subjects don't have to take creative art subjects which is unfair"

get dance back for 2 years, it messes with people's life's and their holiday break.

I think this absoloutly ridiculous and completely unfair, especially on the people who were lead into believing they were taking the full A level course at the beginning of september 2015. I hope that this petition will make a massive difference on the opinon of the school and the full course will hopefully carry on. What some people may not see or realise is that this is potentially stopping students from pursuing the career that they dream of and that should NOT be happening.

It's always the arts that are threatened because "they're a waste of money" and they "don't help student getting into university" - why can't we just enjoy what we want to do without being told that it's a waste of time and money?!

Some of the Gordano alums who did dance at A' Level have gone on to do wonderful things in that field. Keep that opportunity open for current students.

It is a shame that people cannot choose to do a 2 year course for dance as it is stoping young people from following what they might want as a carrer . this happened to me but on the sports leaders where nothing in the end saved it from me stopping after one year due to other priorities which are the new GCSEs . so I think since there is nothing powerful Like the government going against the 2 year course these young people should be able to make a choice for their future.

Although I have left Gordano it continues to upset me how creative subjects are seen to have no value. And some universities may think of dance as a 'soft subject' but why would wholly creative universities such as UCA (university for creative arts) and UAL (university of the arts London) - not to mention countless dance and drama schools etc. - exist if these creative subject are so worthless? There are no excuses for cutting arts subjects because the creative world is massive! And also very competitive - any extra education in creative subjects is hugely beneficial.

It is a shame that such a good school with a wide range of opportunities are not prepared to support students who wish to maybe go to uni and achieve their goals.
