I would ask the governing bodies concerned to seriously consider this petition as the accommodation situation in our area ( Busselton Shire) is critical.
The workers are the backbone of a prosperous society but they are being forced to leave the area due to the lack of somewhere affordable to live or no accommodation available because of air b and b (another glaring issue which needs to be addressed.(sooner rather than later) ) ie people before money.
Businesses are suffering or closing because there's nowhere for workers to live.
The government are there for its people so please support us the people.
And I wonder if anyone in governance will even read this. I look forward to a reply.
Thank you Peter

I commend this common-sense approach to helping provide suitable and affordable self-contained accommodation on rural properties. Our local history was small affordable tiny houses that helped allow people to develop this great area into the amazing place we call home. Not everyone wants or needs a large 4 x 2.
Small and tiny homes can be built simply but eco friendly and even be moveable if ever needed.
The City of Busselton should lead the way in allowing small/tiny homes to be part of the mix of accommodation choices, especially allowing for workers accommodation as affordable rentals but with the comforts of a modern home. Plus bushfire restrictions to be carefully considered on a case by case basis. Would you deny this as a option when the City of Busselton could lead the way?

Erl Happ has a solution to the housing crisis which impacts the whole community in the South West - no houses means no workers which impacts local business, which impacts tourists. Let alone the mental health impact this has on those who have nowhere to live. There are other solutions to ensuring people are bushfire safe.

I own a local business which hires up to 100 people in the peak season. Dunsbourough and the surrounding areas do not have enough reasonably priced accommodation to house these casual workers.
If people were entitled to put a second or even third or fourth if the block was big enough, it would create a large number of rental houses for the area.
Also the setbacks the City are encouraging are too much. 39m from the tree line? Too much.

Please use your ability to enable this concept to become the future and constructive solution to the critical housing shortage problem. This model could become a catalyst for other municipalities which would be accredited to the forward thing of the Busselton Counsel Members.

I agree there needs to be greater action and support for local people and businesses in regards to homing individuals, families and potential workers in Dunsborough. These unprecedented times call for bold moves and unprecedented action. I’m positive Councillors will be supportive of these actions and strongly urge the Mayor, and Planning Department to get on board and make changes to policy and rules to support these excellent initiatives.

If you believe governments at all levels exist to help people, not hinder them, then this petition's goals are well worth supporting and implementing.

As someone who has just been put through the stresses of our rental crisis I couldn’t think of a better and more affordable way of alleviating the problem quickly

I’ve noticed that there are houses being built on very small blocks and the prices are still very high regardless of block size, there is no room for children to play or a pet, nor is there room to grow anything, people with larger blocks who want to house family or friends should be able to have small accomodation built on their blocks

There is clearly a huge problem in the South West right now with housing. It's common to have upwards of 50 people showing up to view rental properties, that are over priced.
Things are out of balance and this proposal from Erl is a positive step forward for our community.
It's important that council rules change and adapt to fit with current circumstances.

The great costs associated with building the average Australian home or renting one are beyond the means of so many Australians. As humans we have very basic needs that can be met fairly simply, and many of us are very happy to live in that simplicity. I support Erl's fine initiative to get a tiny home movement started locally to help alleviate the current housing crisis.
We need small houses !
