January 2nd and 3rd are on Thursday and Friday, respectively, which can interfere with holiday plans and/or travel plans at the end of the 2013-2014 winter break, such as needing to cut vacation and family time in order to com back to school. Should the School Board be worried about attendance of students for the school year, they should consider the consequences of having a two-day school week. Though teachers will come into school to tend to the students, very few (if any at all) will opt to finish off the week of break and relax. Sign this petition (to be sent to the PWCS School Board), if a full-two weeks would make planning for your winter break easier!

The PWCS School Board is ignoring the reality that forcing students back for a two day week is a logistical disaster for every family involved. I am tired of them acting like our time and travel plans do not exist while they cling to an inflexible calendar that helps no one.

I support this petition to extend our winter break to a reasonable length in exchange for our half days. Schools around the nation have an average of 3-5 more days of break than Prince William County. For anyone traveling for the holidays, resuming school on a Thursday gives no weekend preparation or travel time to get home and ready for school without being rushed. It is called winter break for a reason. We should not be forced to go to school based on the school board's decision . Half says are pointless anyway
There is another petition started for this: PWCS Winter Break 2013-2014 Extension. Theres 4200+ signatures on it, but they need more!

We should have a full 2 weeks of break like the rest of the counties

I am a special needs bus attendant and have a middle school child.and two weeks is deserve.why come back back for two days.
