I have come to know many current and past players from the AFL along my career journey and I have been increasingly expressing the need for more support for players whilst playing and during the 3 ways they exit a club or their career - due to injury, delisting/trade, and retirement. We can do more and we need to. Much love to all and anyone grieving or struggling x

So well articulated Tom. This issue needs to be raised as high as the bar will go. Time to really step up AFL.

For too long the AFL has neglected the wellbeing and safety of its players, administrators, spectators and broader communities. Awareness and more importantly change is needed to combat the increasingly tragic situation facing Men in Australia. If the AFL can promote gambling and alcohol at every step, it can find the time to use its platform for real good.

A great initiative and as someone who got made redundant last year who hasn't been able to get a job this resonates.

Yes, yes, yes. This is long overdue. The influence the AFL can have on this is next to none.

I can't believe there isn't already an AFL round dedicated to mental health. Its a national crisis already.
