The most vulnerable people in our city need these spaces, they need the support. There aren't enough beds available and we need to work to provide more beds quickly. With every day that passes, there is a higher risk of illness and death for those on the streets during these cold and wet months. Not only that, but providing a safe space where these individuals can rest without the fear of violence is crucial. We've heard a lot from the Tory campaign about making Toronto better: the world class city we claim to be. A world class city helps the vulnerable and takes pride in providing services to all citizens.

Despite sensitivy trainings and trying to address oppressions, shelters and drop-ins remain unsafe spaces for people of marginalized identities. Women are sexually harrassed, queer and trans folks are shunned and bullied, and people of colour experience racism. Toronto needs the opportunity to create really intentional spaces that are more successful in creating safety.

This is 2014, why we still need to be fighting for basic roofs over our heads in Toronto - a world city? We can definitely can much better in protecting our vunerables.

I don't want to see any more deaths, injuries, rapes, assaults, or trauma in my city.

Long ago we were known as "Toronto the Good". Let us not earn the name of being "Toronto the Heartless".

Providing adequate shelters for people to escape the freezing cold is one of the most important tasks of municiple government. The City of Toronto's disregard for their most vulnerable citizens is a disgrace.

It is both cruel and inhuman that people are living in such terrible living conditons. Housing should be a right for all and people should not feel insecure and worried about their sleepign situations. I boggles my mind that shelters were set up for emergency situations. Now people are living in them as "permanent" forms of shelter. This housing crisis NEEDS to be addressed in Canada

The city requires more spaces, particularly space that is accessible for people with disabilities.
