Dr James L. Fletcher, known to most as Jimmy Fletcher, is the standout Minister of the previous government. Dr Fletcher headed two important Ministries in Saint Lucia between 2011 and 2016: the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Public Service, Information and Broadcasting, He is more widely known nationally, regionally and internationally for his work in Climate Change. Dr. Fletcher has proven himself a hard worker, a man with the interest of Saint Lucia sustainable development at heart.

With the election of a new set of men and women to govern, does it mean that Saint Lucia must accept the same recycled modus operandi of discontinuing good work which had started by the previous administration? Dr Fletcher is admired regionally and internationally and his stellar leadership and work on behalf of Saint Lucia and CARICOM cannot be ignored and thrown away because yellow is the new colour of the day.

We talk about unity and beginning anew. We are now presented with an opportunity for all Saint Lucians to show that we are more than just party colours. We are Saint Lucians ‘Helen of the West”: Iyanola.

A man for climate change. A man for energy efficiency. A man for promotion of renewable energy. A man for water resources. A man for a clean environment and the conservation of our natural habitats. A man for technological advancements and innovation. A MAN FOR A BETTER SAINT LUCIA.

I approve the essence of this petition. He should be offered a position as Special Adviser to the Ministry that of Sustainable Development on a year to year contract. You can't have him in cabinet. Whether we like it or not, Cabinet is a political chamber and Jimmy is one of the SLP's political strategists.

I must admit that with all jokes, and prejudice aside this man Dr. Fletcher is doing a great job in both areas .Therefore allowing him to continue what he has started on climate change will only allow the work to flow without encumbrances. As was mentioned before, internationally, locally, and regionally he is known for an outstanding performance. If the job is being done excellent, why demolished a good thing.... I admire your social media information which has been very informative to the public....

I am in total support of this initiative, this will be in the best interest of St. Lucia and by extension continuing the thrust which began under the last administration spearheaded by Jimmy Fletcher. Too often successive administrations sweep viable programmes/initiatives under the rug just because it was not the brainchild of "De Party"

Our society needs the kind of professionalism that Dr. Fletcher has consistently displayed. He has my vote!

I suppose this move whole heartedly. If it comes to pass it will show that we are maturing as a people. A good example for our youth.

He has been there for the nation to manage three ministries, he needs to continue his strong leadership skills to the nation.

That's all well and good and I do believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when voicing your opinion, the platform or format is very important. A petition generally serves to change something, to stop something that is already happening or prevent something which has been announced to begin from starting. When you start a petition before intentions are even announced (how are we so sure that they're going to destroy or stop what he started?) it implies that you already believe the worst of them. I feel like a letter sent directly to those in charge of making the decisions or an open letter with them directly tagged would have been a less negative method. Yes you can make your own choices and do as you see fit, but a petition says you already think the worst of them without even giving them a chance (or showing them alternatives in a less negative way) to do better.
