I have been going to TIPP for two years now. I can already say it feels at home. Scott and Carrie made it feel that way. The camp won't be the same without them.

This summer will mark my 7th year at Camp Tippecanoe. I had never wanted to go to a summer camp when I was younger, because, as silly as it seems, I had seen a Care Bears movie that painted summer camp in a bad light. But in spring 2010, my mom picked up a brochure for Tip and told me just to check it out, because she thought I would like it. I was skeptical, but after looking through the brochure, I fell in love. I knew I wanted to go there. So she signed me up, and I had one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I have come back year after year, because camp is my second home. It wouldn't be home if it weren't for Scott and Carrie. They're such supportive and loving people, and I just can't imagine going to camp without them there. I honestly doubt I would. They make Tippecanoe more than a summer camp. They make it a family.

We sent our first two kids to camp in 2006 for the first time. They loved it so much we sent them back year after year. Now our younger two are hooked on Tippecanoe. It's a big part of who they are and how they see themselves, their confidence and independence. It's also something all 4 of them have in common, something very rare with a 10 year age difference from oldest to youngest.
The Weigley family is the biggest part of what Tippecanoe is and what it means to our family. Scott and Carrie understand how critical the camp experience is to kids. They make it the best possible week for every child, especially kids who have a hard time making friends. The Weigleys love and live their mission both at camp and in the community. Their kids go to school with ours and our kids are thrilled to see them outside of camp. They set a great example.
I was a camper in the late 70s and early 80s and I have very vivid memories. I have been there every summer for the past 10 years and I can see how much Scott and Carrie have improved the camp, both in the facilities and programming. I sincerely hope the YMCA will allow them to continue their good work at Tippecanoe.

To me, camp is a lot like pitching a tent. You need the tent itself, guy ropes, pegs, and a frame. At camp, the campers represent the tent, the guy ropes represent the counselors, the pegs represent the camp itself, and the frame represents Scott and Carrie. The campers are the main part of camp, just like the cloth tent is the #1 material needed to pitch a tent. Just like guy ropes, the counselors hold up the campers and always support them. The pegs are the camp itself, because without pegs, your tent will fly away in the wind. And finally Scott and Carrie represent the frame, because the frame keeps the whole tent together, united as one.
Here's another example. Say you have all of your necessary parts to build a tent, but you for some reason or another don't have your frame poles anymore. Sure, you could find a replacement to salvage your tent, maybe some sticks or some hardy wire, but most likely, your tent won't function the way it was designed ever again, and other parts of the tent will also not work in the same way they once did when you still had the original frame.
Without Scott and Carrie, camp will not function to its full capability. Campers and counselors will leave. The camp itself will not be the same. In other words, our "tent" (camp) will crumble. Scott and Carrie are the framework of camp, the foundation which everything else stands upon, and without them, camp will not be the same. I could not imagine camp without Scott and Carrie!! I absolutely love them!!

Scott and Carrie have changed my life over the past 7(?) years. They're made me a second home, a second family, and a second me. The camp they run was magical to begin with but it's even more magic with them. If they leave we lose the very embers that keep the campfire burning so brightly.

We love Scott and Carrie! They've made me fall in love with YMCA's Camp Tippecanoe! I love spending time there in the summer! They've always made me feel wanted and happy! They've made feel like a part of this one huge camp family! Don't get rid of them!!

Scott and Carrie have done an amazing job at Camp Tippecanoe. Their enthusiasm and obvious love of the camp, the campers, and the alumni is unparalleled. Together, they have worked to expand the camp roster, and are helping to bring it back to it's glory days. Losing Scott and Carrie would be devastating to campers, young and old, and a great loss to the camp itself.

While I have not worked on staff with Scott and Carrie (was on staff from the mid 60's to early 70's; my husband was an international counselor in '72 and we continued with family camp in the late 70's) I have seen the effects of their leadership in the past two alumni reunions. Their willingness to keep the strong ties of camp history alive while making changes to keep up with the times is evident. The physical improvements to the facility are amazing. They deserve to stay in this position and continue their good work.

As an environmental education colleague, a past Tippecanoe staff person, and parent of a current camper, I love the environment that Scott and Carrie have fostered and grown. I've been impressed with the growth in alumni opportunities, the professionalism of the communications with parents, and the increased visibility of Camp Tippecanoe that they have fostered.
