We want the MNPS adminstration to know that Nashville supports the idea of a sustainabilty academy here in the Hillwood/Westmeade neighborhood. Westmeade Elementary is a neighborhood school that has been working for over a decade to become just that. We reduce, recycle,and reuse much that would end up in the landfill otherwise. I spent way too long staring at the recycling bins behind the cafeteria yesterday and thinking about how much more we could actually be teaching the kids if we just shifted our focus. I have been emailing back and forth with a few people in the district office who actually seem like they might listen if we keep pushing them on this.

Yes for West Meade as a Sustainability Magnet. As the mom of three kids who went to that school, it’s a jewel and this would be a great direction for it!
Living, learning, and working sustainably is essential to community success. The West Meade Sustainability Magnet School is just what we need for West Meade neighborhood, Nashville, and a model for the region.
I would love to see this happen. But what I don't understand are the multiple comments from people wanting to move the school to the Hollywood property when roughly 5 kids from that part of the district actually attend Westmeade. The largest group of kids at Westmeade live in Bellevue. We need a new, remodeled school in Bellevue.
This would enrich the lives of the students who attend Westmeade, increase environmental awareness among the next generation, and be a unique asset for MNPS. Hope to see this come to fruition in the near future!
I taught at Westmeade and the level of instruction was top notch. The teachers taught with rigor and the students grew from that. I support this petition whole heartedly and believe that this is a good idea.
this program is so excellent and such an asset to our neighborhood and to our city. I urge that Westmeade Elementary be named as a Sustainability Academy. Long overdue!

My daughter attended Westmeade and will be attending college studying environmental science. Start them early. Save the planet & it’s inhabitants!
