Many great comments. I agree with them all. I hail and still live in Carol Ann's home town of Pembroke. Went to high school with her. We lost our local TV station many years ago, but thank goodness there was CJOH and Carol Ann. She IS our home town connection. Bell Media's decision is extremely short-sighted, unprofessional and most distasteful.

I cannot justify watching the CTV Ottawa six o'clock news. I have switched to another broadcast in protest.

Terrible decision! What a way to treat someone after 27 years at CTV! Should not have been her to go!

Very disappointed in Bell. It shouldn't always be about the money. I guess Carol Anne (and the others laid off) were just numbers on a spreadsheet.

Perhaps the powers that be have lost their collective minds. Carol Ann is a staple of the Ottawa Community. SMARTEN UP!

This is an absolute shame and further goes to show how Ottawa is treated as a 2nd class town by the Controlling Toronto interests. Not only is the media Toronto biased but the Provincial politicians are as well.
Forget about Quebec separation lets try Toronto separation, then maybe Ottawa will finally get its well earned recognition.
Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley have a very distinct quality to it and its time that we preserve its people and uniqueness.

This is disgraceful. You lay off the longer serving person, was she making 17 cents more than the junior people, and was the possibility of a pension going to cause bell media to go broke.
Terrible. Bring her back if you are lucky enough that she will return.
