The laying off of Carol Anne Meehan makes no sense. She has experience, the trust of the community and fantastic interpersonal skills!

Please forward this to the management that made the decision to let Carol Ann go. Thanks. I am SO upset about Carol Anne being let go. I live alone and my 6 o'clock news is my online "family" as I eat my dinner. Nothing against Graham but to me he is still "new". Carol Ann's groundedness, intelligence, compassion and interest in our community really speaks to me and I am not interested in watching CTV news without her. I have watched CTV news for at LEAST 20 years and this is a big decision for me to take. I was also a "booster" of CTV as most of my friends watch CBC news all the time - I would argue that at LEAST during the dinner hour they should turn to CTV to find out what is happening locally - new venues being opened, city planning, etc. I am very, very, VERY disappointed!!!!! And no time to say good-bye - just turned on the news last night and she was gone!!!!! The 3 key people to me for the news were Graham, Carol Ann and J.-J. I enjoy all the other reporters, but they are the anchors to me. OBVIOUSLY Carol Ann was the only female presence and therefore provided a balanced perspective and point of view.. PLEASE, PLEASE bring her back - you will singlehandedly be responsible for the total demise of the the 6 o'clock CTV news. I actually cried last night - I certainly send Carol Ann lots of hugs. I am fine with Graham replacing Max, and he certainly has a lot of good qualities, but I believe if you had to choose between the 2 you should have picked Carol Ann - she has more of the warmth factor than he has. Anyways, then there would have been a better balance (male/female) and to be honest, I would still be watching CTV news then. I'm SO disappointed and sad - this effects me personally tremendously. Carol Anne has always been my favourite News Anchor and I am very upset over her shabby treatment!

In addition to cheerfully and graciously supporting countless Ottawa charities and events, Carol Anne was an intelligent, competent and personable news anchor. Letting Carol Anne go is an insult not only to her, but also to her many loyal viewers. Laying her off without allowing her time to even say good-bye is a reflection of Bell Media's ignorance and disdain for their local stations, loyal employees and viewers. The big winner here will be CBC. Advertisers take note!

What a terrible decision! My husband and I will no longer be watching. And what kind of heartless company lays off a married couple in sales department. Merry Christmas Bell Media Scrooge!!!!

Bring Back Carol Anne Meehan .. CTV's sheer stupidity of firing a well liked, well informed community leader bring the news into and for us is short-sighted and sooo wrong on many fronts !

How very sad that Bell Media puts so little value on such a great news anchor. You have certainly lost me as a viewer to your newscast.

Carol Ann was Ottawa! She showed the human side of a news anchor and took part in supporting so many Ottawa charities and events. She probably was bridged to her pension and received a pay out but it will never compensate for how she was made to feel being walked out and never having the opportunity to say a proper goodbye to her co-workers and her viewers. It's an awful way to end a long career and nobody deserves that kind of ending. We'll miss you Carol Anne, time to think of yourself and your family, there are better things coming your way. Just know your viewers are standing up for you!
