Age Appropriate Books for Westfield Washington Students

This type of book should not be available for elementary age children to pick up and read with their friends. It would only cause unnecessary confusion that primary-aged children are simply not ready to understand. Books that talk about gender identity should be kept in a separate area (counselor's office) and not be where young children can read together with friends without consent from a parent.

FYI : change.org is a San Francisco based organization. They have approx 2,700 signatures & I’m wondering if they are all from people who live in this school system?

The so called experts at the Board of Trustees are not experts at all. This only causes confusion and it is not any different than a parent signing a document for their child to receive sex education in elementary school.

Parents should always have a say at what THEIR own children are reading...especially in ages K-4.

Parents should be able to choose when and how they present this info to their children, not some administrative woke bureaucrat.

Religion indoctrination is not allowed in public school as it may influence young minds outside of the accepted curriculum. The same rule should hold here, allowing parental guidance to be predominant, not propaganda.

Keep fighting the good fight to save our children from exposure to diversity. Fathers are the head of families and if it with our guidance that children should have these conversations. We need to lead our families. Not our schools. Thank you to my fellow proud boys of Indiana. I stand with you.

This is absolutely insane to expose small children to such grown up topics. Stop the social justice warriors from ruining our schools!

These issues are not appropriate for elementary age students. In fact a careful examination of brain science would give a strong indication that these issues should be considered by individuals after age 21 or so. Making life altering permanent decisions should require a mature brain in a physiological sense and no doubt in an emotional sense as well. When the school system presents information to their students that is likely to bring confusion or questions that the students are not equipped to handle only contributes to the very challenging environment our students are attempting to navigate. Where this issue has been introduced to a student through family or friends it should be carefully addressed first and foremost by and in the family. The school should be focused on age appropriate learning. Much of the stress on our children today if honestly evaluated will be seen as caused by exposure to issues they are not yet equipped to mentally and emotionally handle successfully.
