Age Appropriate Books for Westfield Washington Students

I do not approve books about gender identity to be available to elementary age students.

We feel that these sensitive topics are for the parents to teach and field topics on, not the school. The school is crossing the line allowing access to these topics without the parents permission. These books go against what we are teaching our children at home and out too much strain on the classroom teachers to have to follow and manage. We teach our children to be kind and respectful to ALL people but they do not have to agree with other people’s choices and opinions and we don’t expect others to always agree with us. WWS needs to stick to the guiding principles that the schools were founded on. All these social and emotional issues can be dealt with if we practice Respect, Compassion, Hardworking, Honesty and Kindness.

Children don’t deserve to be confused about gender and the school system definitely shouldn’t make them question who or what they are.

Inappropriate material for children. Let them grow up before you try to indoctrinate them

Decisions on these matters should be made in the home not in the school system.

Parent should be able to make a decision on what their children have access to.

Parents need to be the primary source of education on these topics not the school.

Love and diversity is NOT political!

Schools have no business pushing political agendas. Get these books outta there.

Banning books is a way of forcing your beliefs on others.

Enough is enough! Parents should be the only ones to educate their children on these matters. School should stick to fundamentals and courses they have always taught. As an educator and mother I am concerned we have crossed a very sensitive line.

Please put these books in a place where they need parent permission to access.

These types of books should NOT be available for elementary students or any other students. These subjects should be discussed within the family!
