HB2439 is Detrimental to Texas Cities

Southlake Town Square is charming, unique and a pleasure to visit daily. This is our town , I veto this bill!

The building code provides Minimum standards for the safe installation and construction of structures. It does not determine best practices for a particular area or regions. The types of materials used should be decided by those most familiar with their particular area. I oppose this bill and hope State will do the same.

I in vest significantly in commercial and residential real estate. Although I don’t like many of the regulations I deal with I also realize they have a purpose. I can’t imagine what a town would look like when everyone can build with their own particular design and finish. This may be one of the dumbest laws or elimination of laws I’ve ever seen.

We bought here in southlake because of the strict requirements of building which endured our properties maintaining their values.

No to the bill!

Please allow Cities to enforce their own code enforcement that keep historical cities, quaint. One size doesn't fit all!!

Veto 2439! Keep local decisions Local. We buy property based on the community do not remove our ability to control our quality of life. This law benefits no one but developers pockets. Shame on you!

Do not pass this bill I will sue you

I’m appalled that if the bill is signed, it will cheapen the quality of new construction, increase profit of contractors and eventually devaluate property values. Why is this a good idea?? This is of no benefits to home buyers or commercial buildings, causing owners to invest outside money meet reasonable standards. As a former general contractor, I would not participate in these lack of respectable standards. Frankly, I certainly would not want to be sued for poor quality materials. I no longer own a home and would not be interested in investing in another if this it what I could expect.

Please veto this bill. Our city deserves to serve our Community with our citizens to have input to design our town that we have planned from the beginning. It's our decision not outside developers. Thank you.

Please veto HB2439. Our city has recently updated our zoning and development codes after two years of work. Members of the building community, zoning commission, citizen and city council served on the committee that developed the new ordinance. Please let us the people/citizens determine how we want our city to look and develop.

As usual Texas seems to be hell bend on stripping away any shred of local controls we have left. This is all for the benefit of some developers I’m sure. Mr Abbott please Veto this stupid bill.
