HB2439 is Detrimental to Texas Cities

Hon. Gov Abbott, City Councils are elected by the Citizens in the communities that they live. Local Control is true Democracy ...anything short of Local Control is not American nor Texan Independent Values on which our great Country and great State were founded. This Bill and many like it that seek circumvent Local Control are very destructive to the Taxpayers, voting residential taxpayers and non-voting commercial tax payers alike. Please VETO this VERY BAD IDEA! Appreciate all you do for our great State but please Veto this one. Greg Sims

Vote no on HB2349. Let cities retain the right to regulate and design development that is appropriate based on local knowledge.

Please veto this bill. It will negatively impact cities and economic development in Texas.

I thought Republicans were for small government and local control. How does this bill line up with Republican values? It does not!

This is not good for anyone.

I am adamantly opposed to this as it impinges on local control and the right of a city to determine it's zoning codes.

As an urban planner, an elected official and the representative of a District that benefits incredibly from economic development, aesthetic enhancements, and especially quality infill development that results from requirements that ensure quality projects that benefit the entire city HB2439 would be incredibly detrimental.

Although I work for a brick company my objection to this Bill is more from a resident and homeowner who doesn't want to buy a house and how someone ruin my property value because they want to do something crazy to be noticed or whatever. Please Veto this Bill.

Governor Abbott, This Bill would not only be detrimental to Thousands of Texans Jobs it would cost Homeowners more for Home Insurance, Homeowners Taxes will go up due to the fact that the other substandard products are not as safe as Masonry products. Which means we would be forced to Hire more First Responders and that would put their LIVES and all TEXANS LIVES in jeopardy. From one City of Champions Graduate to an other. VETO HB2439 It's the Right thing to do for all TEXANS.

This bill will hurt the small towns that are trying to maintain their integrity and, as in our case, the history of the City of Magnolia. Please realize that a bill such as this one should be left to the citizens of an incorporated entity. Texas is a large and grand state with many treasures. Please help us keep them.

This is detrimental to home owners. The market would turn into a lowest bidder war similar to "affordable housing" and the middle classes' number one investment would turn into decrepit houses that depreciated with constant maintenance costs instead of appreciating and turning into long term wealth

This bill isn't good for the communities we live in and will adversely affect the quality of construction in our great state. I don't believe there was adequate thought given to the long term ramifications of this bill and the effect it will have on the sustainability of our homes and businesses. Why would anyone want to cheapen our communities when we should be working hard to make them stronger and more attractive to insure future growth.

HB2439 removes the right of each municipality to decide on how it wants it structures to look and, as importantly, how its structures hold their value and enhance the tax base. When given an option, builders and developers typically choose the LEAST expensive option which may not be the best option. As citizens, we have a choice as to where we wish to live. If a municipality has chosen finishes that I find objectionable, I can choose to live somewhere else. To attempt to restrict a municipality from enhancing its tax base by choosing better finishes on its structures is inappropriate and bad for Texas.

This is bad legislation, taking the ability for an individual city to set the standards for the type of construction they desire for their community. Cities that have strong ordinances benefit from improved construction and aesthetics.
