After 206 signatures what ´s next?
It seems that all the creative proposal ´s have been on side, despite the Creativity design criteria. My idea,
why dont we exhibit our projects on a facebook page?

After seeing the results I would like to express my disappointment.
Because the first critical principles of Design was: " Create an innovative design" , the second one was" Create a vital centre for the cultural community"
In the results, I see a Classic Modern Design with large terraces without any shadded courtyards, without landscaping and no ramps and an heavy earthwork.
It seems that the main criteria Creativity was changed into: Faisable and Buildable. The 4 runners up selected are very similar, boxes + boxes , does the jury think that Bamiyan inhabitants will recognize themselves into these proposals? A very shy choice!

Environment, self-sufficiency, landscape, logistics and costs mostly ignored in most winning proposals..

Winners seem to have ignored design guidelines and submission rules which should have resulted in their disqualification.

If it is a single-stage competition, what is the point of picking up 'Runners Up's'? Are they there for just in case the winner is disqualified? A two stage competition allowing for 'design development', and more schemes and a 'peoples choice' award, would have been fairer.This being a UNESCO competition makes the final decision rather dissapointing. Its not about losing, its about some degree of fairness.

Naturally, it was very serious competition. but there were no fair or nearly explanable decision made, as it was mentioned above.

Hi. I believe some of the won projects`s content contradict to initial requrements i.e. through the year usage of facilities, etc. It should be noticed that the winners didn`t bother adjust the facilities to land area.

the result is very upsetting. winning entries do not follow the competition brief and lack many key aspects mentioned in the brief.

The decision of the first place is unfair.Not even a scintilla of reference to the Culture of the Afghans or the any insignia of the local context.Two of the the four runners-up work are also lackluster. and a reconsideration is welcome.

3 years ago we, Azad Architects, entered similar design competition for the design of "Afghanistan's National Musuem". It cost us a fortune and 3-months of hard work. We did not win. But we feel the same as you do now the winner(s) of that competition also ignored to follow the program. We believe their design is NOT practical and appropriate for the country. Good luck with your petition. Najim
