exemptions are an encouraging thing.... Smart kids never get rewarded. At callaway high school if you miss a certain amount of days you get rewarded for coming to school by a chickfila biscuit.... What about the kids that come everyday.

In a time when most people want a free ride and not work for Anything and want it given to you...you takie away an incentive to work a little hard and be rewarded that's ridiculous at any lvl

If you take the exemptions away i believe you will have more absences. There have been times when my children would tell me that they didn't feel good but the went to school anyway so that they could be exempt. On several occasions (without me pushing them) my kids sought out tutoring, studied harder for test, etc so they could get their grades up to be able to exempt from classes. I believe that kind of dedication and hard work should be rewarded.

This new rule is a slap in the face to students who work hard each semester. This rule only punishes the highest class of students and all teachers.

THS 04 graduate, who worked hard in order to be able to exempt finals. This was a great motivation.

I've never had to take a final before because I work all year round to keep my grades up and absences/tardies to a minimum, as well as many of my peers do. It's not fair if all that work does not get rewarded. Plus, students take enough standardized tests throughout the year, why add another one to the kids who excel in class?
