As a medical professional, I see housing insecurity and lack of housing being a major barrier to healing and living vitally. We cannot have a great city without health and we cannot have health without housing. The tax system in Washington is hurting all of us that want to look at our neighbors and see each of them as equals. I make more than the Seattle median income and I donate what I don't need to housing insecurity non-profits but I wish we had a more organized way to route my excess income to organized, state protected housing.

This tax, which is already asking much less of big businesses, will make one of the most impactful advances toward ending the homelessness crisis.

I am a Seattle resident and work in public health. Housing is a health issue and Seattle is in a severe housing crisis. Amazon is fortunate to have their headquarters based in Seattle, and given their immense profits, should contribute appropriately to the city’s infrastructural needs.

It is getting harder and harder for folks like me (Teachers) to afford housing here in Seattle. I pay my taxes..and SO SHOULD JEFF BEZOS, Amaon, Microsoft and Vulcan!! I rent! Cannot afford to own a home in this city of have and have nots!

Every business deserves to pay their fair share to invest in the society they profit from.

Why is Seattle not following the advice of homeless expert Barb Poppe - who Seattle hired to address the homeless issue? Boston, Salt Lake City, Houston, etc have fewer homeless and spend far less of the public's tax money to address the issue. Why is Ms Sawant supporting SHARE/WHEEL and LIHI with our valuable tax dollars, despite their not meeting metrics and goals towards getting people off the street? Why have these two organizations refused to provide accountability for the tax money they have spent thus far? Why is there no plan to move people into permanent housing? Seattle is getting trashed under Sawant's watch all while the City Council screams for more and more money - and zero accountability. City Council meetings are constantly packed with representatives for the Homeless Industrial Complex - who childishly shout down anyone who provides a comment not in lockstep with their mantra. I urge everyone to look up and read through 'Anatomy of a Swindle' and tell us that there is not a spending and accountability problem after reading this.

Jeff Bezos became the wealthiest person in the world on the backs of the working class of Seattle, who are now being driven out by a real estate market that is booming as a result of their hard work.

Every person has a right to housing.

Corporations shouldn't get tax cuts, they shouldn't be allowed to push people out of town because its too expensive. I know for a FACT that things cost less outside the seattle city limits.

I can't believe Amazon did not pay any taxes last year!

Tax the rich. Break up Amazon.

Children & families going homeless so Amazon can continue to withhold taxes? Is this the city we want to live in??

As a small business we support the head tax and not the skin in the game. The pressure on the city to accommodate Amazon by handing out tax breaks and public funds is causing massive negative side effects.

As a small business we stand in solidarity with this progressive taxation to gain affordable housing and homelessness services. And reject the big business smokescreen of "skin in the game". Our communities are being pushed out by the greed of big money.

The wealthy need to put more of the profit they make off of this city into making it a better place for us all to live.

Amazon can afford it!

I have been a full time union employee at seattle center for 5 years. I cannot afford to live in the city where I work. Why wouldn't we find a way to tax the wealthy and create homes for all Seattle workers? If we can live where we work, you won't need to toll city streets.

I worked for Amazon. They can afford it!
