As an educator, i see the burning need for affordable housing every day. It is criminal to let Amazon hoard their wealth while children are homeless

This cannot continue. People that do not make six figures a year need places to live too!

As with the example of Stockholm Sweden, the the only affordable housing is public housing for everyone: $750/month rent there.
Seattle city council missed it's historic opportunity to build public housing in a high rise on the property next to city hall. It would have been a shining example for the world about who government should serve in a true democracy.
Council member Sawant's efforts are laudable, but this effort is not enough to maintain a sustainable and livable city.

I wish we were using public housing as the demand instead of "affordable units." We need to indicate we have aplan to step by step transition out of capitalism. Otherwise our demand will come under attack from opportunists on the right using ultra left critiques of the weak and ill defined "affordable housing" demand.

I care about this issue as Jeff Bezos lives in Washington DC and 3 cities in the DMV area are shortlisted for the second Amazon HQ. THis will destroy local DC communities, as has been evidenced in Washinton State.
