Once you have a depressive episode, your brain is rewired knowing how to find that place in the brain which is prone to depressive thoughts. If your depression is in remission, I, as a fellow sufferer and professor in severe emotional/behavior disorders, don
I was diagnosed with bipolar during the darkest time of my life, two years ago. Since then, I have barely been a functioning adult. Despite ongoing pharmaceutical and therapy treatments, my disorder pervades every aspect of my life. Being cured would mean simple things like being able to go out with my family to fun events instead of languishing in bed or getting a job. It would save my life, in more ways than one.

I agree - why is our illness not treated like any other illness with the goal of remission - instead of stabilization of moods? I would love remission

I would LOVE it, if I NEVER again have to hear "If this medication doesn't work give me a call and I'll have you try another:"

I have suffered with major depression for 42 years. One daughter and one son of mine suffer with bipolar disorder. I have been a psychiatric RN for 28 years. Truly it is about time for sufferers to be able to look to treatment to bring them the hope for a complete remission!

I am 34 and have dealt with mental health issues my whole life. I was finally diagnosed with bipolar at the age of 19. I have come to a stable point in my life, but I still deal with symptoms everyday. I believe I do deserve more than that and support Target Zero!
