I just lost my bus pass (not on purpose who had thought). I just don't understand why I am not allowed to use a service anymore I have paid for. It's not like losing a camera, since the value of the pass itself is just the one of a piece of paper. National Express now started using phone tickets, I don't understand why Stagecoach has to be so old-fashioned.

I have forgotten my bus pass at home (Paris, France) and cannot afford to purchase another one (especially only for the last term of uni). '

Simple addition of photos to the busspass like national express buspasses have, would solve this if it were genuinely about people abusing the system. It is obviously about maximising profits, they've simply looked at the amount of replacement passes being issued, multiplied the fee and licked their greedy lips. Given that overcrowding is a given with this company, to add to that by exploiting generally strapped for cash young people is shameful.

As has been mentioned by others, this would be easily resolved by an electronic system libked to a central database. That this has not been implemented suggests Stagecoach have little interest in doing something for students which would reduce profit.
My advice? Pay for your bus pass with a credit card and call the card provider and begin a chargeback if you lose it, tell them the service you paid for, for a year, is no longer available. You'll be refunded, Stagecoach will be fined for the chargeback (if they get enough chargebacks they'll start finding it difficult to accept card payments) and you can buy a National Express pass instead.

Absolutely agree with this petition! Lost my bus pass after 2 weeks of using it and because of this policy either won't be able to afford food or go to lectures. A student cannot choose between surviving and studying. If the policy will not be changed out of mere principle will start using national express services although they take longer and do not give change.

Why not boycott them and go for National Express for everyday service?

It was Stagecoaches marketing of this being the cheapest option at £301 that led to me purchasing the three term ticket. I was aware that I may lose my bus pass at some point and I, like many other students calculated this risk. I worked out that despite the £25 payment fee of a replacement, this was still the cheapest option in comparison with the termly one at £375. (£125 x3).
I believe that when Stagecoach had changed your policy, they should have made us aware of this change offered us to exchange our three term one to a termly one. I am now being forced to spend another £200+, suffering as a result of their change of policy that I had no way of knowing at the time of purchase.
I see no reason why they would require "more evidence of the pass being stolen" or lost. My pass would be of no use to any other passenger upon inspection of the bus drivers employed by their company, as it has my name clearly written on the said pass. That said, I am at a loss as to why we are suffering due to "suspected fraud", when they could quite easily just train their bus drivers to pay more attention when checking our bus passes....

There is no justification in paying £301 to get a new bus pass when you've already paid that fee for a year's worth of the service on the account of a minority of people using the passed fraudulently. Besides, the passes require either photo ID with the pass or the pass to be photo ID itself. Any loss on stagecoach's part is the fault of their drivers, not the students who have either lost their pass or had it stolen.

Either way the card will be replaced. The £300 is said to be there so people are more careful, but people are careful anyway. No one tries to lose a bus pass. If anything the charge would be an unnecessary slap on the wrist.

Want something overpriced that you can't depend on? Look no further than stagecoach's uni service... Expect a lot better considering how much every thousands of students have to pay.

Riddiculous decision of stagecoach i doubt any household insurance policy would cover any such loss whilst in the smartcard era the operator knows who has what on which pass its just opportunist by stagecoach as a monopoly private company Centro happily replace annual lost passes as do Tfl
