Keep Dundee Safe - Stop the Farnam Street Roundabouts (Victory by unanimous vote!)

I'm very concerned with pedestrian safety. It seems like phase 1 of this project should be trying two-way traffic and seeing how it works with decreasing accidents. The roundabouts seem HIGHLY unnecessary when there is a simpler/cheaper/more straightforward solution.

Roundabouts are stupid!! Seriously!! Quit wasting our money and fix the pot holes!!

This round about is a TERRIBLE idea. At the very least, Farnam should become 2 way traffic permanently as opposed to changing daily.

We lived at S 51 Ave and Farnum for 20yrs. And we had a paper route for 13 yrs. The safest approach is to change Farnum to 2 way and keep crosswalk lights. Please do not destroy homes for round abouts. Round abouts are also dangerous in pedestrian crossing. No one stops for people.

No need!!! There are other things the council needs to focus on.

2 way all the time would solve the problems on Farnam! No roundabout!!

Pedestrian / school children crossing is a huge concern . Also two way traffic density is not consistent. Read the studies

The solution is not round abouts as the documentation shows.

Please do not create a roundabout at 50/Farnam.

Not enough room for roundabouts...

There is no reason to install roundabouts right now. This is not something that needs to happen in order for something else to happen. Make the change to 2 way and allow for a "new normal" to occur. Then you can revisit the roundabout option. I don't believe there is room for roundabouts. I worry about North/ South bound traffic flows. I really worry about children trying to cross when traffic is so heavy.

I support piloting 2 way traffic for at least one year and collect data to determine if roundabouts are necessary for safety and traffic flow, and worth the expense to the city and the cost of disruption to affected homeowners and citizens.

This round about does not fit the historical nature of the neighborhood. The data does not support the roundabout and data is being omitted to make the argument for the roundbabouts. Roundabouts are advised against in uneven traffic flow situations. This installation is a text book example of an uneven traffic flow situation during morning rush hour and evening rush hour. This flow would increase the danger of the intersection. Incremental changes such as light timing, warning lights similar to 40th and dodge etc. can be implemented to continue to make farnam safer. We have already seen a significant accident reduction already with a simple light change. Lastly this solution does nothing to address pedestrian safety and the there is little to no data regarding pedestrian safety at roundabouts. Intuitively looking at roundabouts around omaha it ver evident that pedestrians are not safe based on the number of knocked down signs, tire tracks all over sidewalks and evidence of property damage near roundabouts. Overall as an Engineer the data does not support this solution.
