Fight back to stop Kingston councils money making scam on issuing penalty charges

We can see no purpose to this road closure to ordinary traffic as all that it does is to take all the traffic past the school the long way round. As a cyclist I have gained no benefit whatsoever. If it was only designed as a money making scheme for Kingston Council then it appears to have been remarkably successful. However people will soon get wise & the revenue will disappear.

An appalling underhanded scam. Fine cyclists for going through red lights, you would make quadruple the amount !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have incurred a £65 fine last Saturday if these gentlemen campaigning had not have stopped me. The no through for car sign is certainly not the first or most directly visual signage you see!! The right of way sign is what you immediately see due to its size and positioning. They should be switched around. Or is this just a money making campaign by the council, if so then it's genius!!

This is confusing signage. The 'Give way to oncoming vehicles' is lower and larger than the 'except buses taxis' sign. The first sign the driver sees and logs is the larger one. There is an empty bollard before the corner of Surbiton Crescent and Anglesea Road (now used as a rubbish bin), which I expect was meant for another sign?

Wholeheartedly agree. This is entrapment & jut a way to raise revenue for the council. Disgraceful underhand behaviour

I was awarded a fine two days after Kingston Council got this scandalous scheme up and running. It is the Council setting the community against the community in the name of the community in the most discraceful way. In their demand they are quick to try to suggest that it is an issue of cycle road safety. In reality, it is a cynical revenue generating scheme. I am both a cyclist and a car driver and believe that all road users should be respectful to, and ensure the safety of all other road users. Cyclists are amoungst the most vulnerable. For the Council to attempt to use them in this way is a divisive and shameful abuse of the local community. I would go further with this, and demand the resignations of those responsible for designing and implementing such an unjust and divisive scheme. Paul Gouk (local resident).

This use of unclear signing acts to trap motorists rather than redirect traffic.

Very confusing signage, should say and be marked "Bus Lane"

The signage is unclear and confusing. It adds nothing to traffic management and only gives Kingston Council and easy source of additional income penalising motorists by the inappropriate signs.

I was actively looking for road signs, and still missed the warning forbidding cars to go through Crescent road in the direction towards Kingston. Its much easier to see driving in the opposite direction. People do not intentionally disobey road signs, they sometimes just aren't clear enough!

it should be destroyed so the council will stop taking our money

first it was making the cycle lane by the river and completely ruining it and now Surbiton crescent . the council are just wanting to find a way to make money easily

there are barely any cyclist that go through here its selfish of the council.

not fair because i use to always drive through here to get to my house and now i have to take the long way round and there are barely and cyclists that use this

this is not fair on the people of Kingston who live close to that area
