Unclear signage! It says give way to oncoming traffic with a car and bike sign. You do not have time to read the small words below.

I have just received a PCN, my first in over 20 years of driving. The road signage is inadequate and confusion. It appears to be a temp traffic calming measure not a closure to cars, especially with the give way signs to oncoming vehicles at eye level. You are already past the left turn when approaching the width restriction northbound and would be unsafe to either reverse or turnaround on a bend, hence you have no choice. I will be appealing.

I too have just been caught out by this. Setting traps for drivers like this surely makes the roads less safe as you're busy scanning all the signs everywhere to make sure you're not breaking some rule rather than focusing on other road users.

I have received a PCN notice. I do not live in the area and was visiting an open day at Surbiton High School. I had absolutely no idea I had contravened any rule until I received a PCN in the post.

The Code of Practice for Operation of CCTV Enforcement Cameras in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (available online) clearly states - Signs 2.3.5
Relevant camera enforcement signs should be displayed in areas where the system operates. The signs will not define the field of view of the cameras but will advise that CCTV camera enforcement is taking place in the area. CCTV enforcement signs are non-existent anywhere near the restriction in Surbiton Crescent so RBK are enforcing the restriction in breach of their own code of practice. Good luck.

Very upset about recent car park fine for no entry on Surbiton Crescent - unclear signage and has no benefit to anyone as it increases traffic on neighboring roads and is a nuisance and furthermore a cash making scheme.

This scheme has been judged as poorly signposted and everyone affected should be refunded.

I'm signing this petition because I think this road closure to motorists is grossly unfair and I think it was done deliberately to extract more money from unsuspecting motorists who found the signs woefully inadequate as to what they actually meant. NO CARS ALLOWED would have been clearer. I think the people who've been fined should get a refund or you'll find fewer visitors to your town. Why does it have to be 24hrs, can't cars use it at night?
