This petition is to allow those against the Hutto ISD re-zoning middle school attendance zones for both Farley Middle School and Hutto Middle School to voice their opposition.

With only 36 middle school students within Star Ranch affected by the rezoning proposal, their is no need to make changes until a new middle school is built.

Thank you for your time and help in ensuring the Hutto School Board is aware of our concerns!

Updates

December 20, 2018

I have been hearing from so many of you about how this instability affects your children and it is clear this is a shared struggle. Please know that I am working on getting our concerns directly in front of the board members because this outcome should not be forced on our families yet.

December 20, 2018

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the way the community has come together around this. It is clear that I am not the only one concerned about our students and the impact of these changes. This momentum belongs entirely to you.

As a parent of children who currently attend Howard Norman, Farley, and Hutto High; I do not feel the right thing to do at this time is to move Star Ranch to Kerley or Hutto Middle. You would be making our bus riders take routes that involve crossing the railroad tracks, when there are much better options on the same side of town. Keep the kids at Farley, and absorb our elementary school students to either Howard Norman or Nadine Johnson.

There is no need to rezone at this time. The impact for Star Ranch on the middle school project is minimal since only a few students are affected. The drive to Hutto Middle School is very inconvientent for residents who work in downtown Austin and need to drive their child to school for tutorials or UIL, ect. This adds more stress on parents to arrive at work later and having to drive during morning peak hours. It is important to review this proposal and the safety of the Star Ranch residents potentially affected by this proposed change. Additionally, Star Ranch residents pay taxes and should not be penalized to transfer in and have to provide their own transportation.

There is no need to rezone the middle schools at this time. It will impact students and parents negatively as students are active in sports, band, choir, Leo club, and daily tutorials that require almost daily parent transportation.

Please keep Star Ranch zoned to Farley Middle School, at least until a new middle school is constructed. Farley is closer to home and reduces drive time and transportation costs without a significant population impact to the schools. Thank you!

Please reconsider the re-zoning of Star Ranch, with only 36 students there must be more impactful options with better results.

Don't feel a need to rezone.

This is an extremely inconvenient move for our neighborhood. Please reconsider this thought process. With only 36 middle schoolers in our neighborhood doesn’t seem like a smart decision.

No need to rezone at this time.
