Request for Engineering and Construction of Turn Lanes on Sicard Hollow Road and Liberty Parkway intersection for Waiting Carpool Traffic

We live in Heritage Hills of Liberty Park. I use Sicard Hollow as our daily route to and from school. In the past four months I've had three incidents of being almost hit on driver's side when leaving at drop off because you can't see when pulling onto Sicard Hollow. You slowly pull out and hope no one has decided to use the wrong lane to bypass the carpool line. I've also had four incidents meeting someone head on when they decided to use the other lane to bypass the wait. It is insanely dangerous. Please help.

Please fix the pot holes too.

Tremendous danger for the children not to mention a huge traffic problem with an accident waiting to happen.

This is an extremely worthwhile project, which may even save lives.

We desperately need these upgrades for the safety of our kids and others that use Sicard Hollow.

To Mayor Curry & the City Council Representatives for the City of Vestavia, AL, I offer the following feedback with the greatest of respect for your commitment to your city's citizens. I live in the Alston Meadows neighborhood of Liberty Park and my daughter attends VHELP. Even with VHELP having added off duty police officers at the intersection nearest the entrance to VHELP during AM carpool (to help with traffic flow into/out of Liberty Parkway from both directions of Sicard Hollow) there is STILL a significant traffic and safety issue of cars backing up onto Sicard Hollow (both directions) as they await being able to turn onto Liberty Parkway. I exit from Liberty Parkway onto Sicard Hollow each day after dropping off my daughter at school to begin my commute to work. There is hardly EVER a line of sight, in either direction, to feel safe that the way is clear for me to safely complete my turn. I am not an overly reactive, nor overly dramatic person and when I tell you that I fear for my life, I sincerely mean it. I've had no less than 10 near hit accidents, when cars that have been frustrated at having to wait, have crossed the center line to bypass the line awaiting to turn onto Liberty Parkway and just missed hitting me at considerable speed, head on. These instances are terrifying and completely avoidable. I'm a single mother. If I were to lose my life or be injured to such a degree that there were changes to my standard of life due to complications from injury, then you would be causing great harm to her - emotional, financial, physical and more. My life, and the lives of many other Vestavia residents, as well as those who are not residents but travel through Sicard Hollow to work, to the athletic complexes etc. are ALL significantly more at risk due to the dangers of not having turn lanes. I wish it was as easy a solution as, "people should do the right thing and not pass illegally". Well, unfortunately, on a daily basis, people don't do

This is such a hazard and we really need this carpool lane to prevent more accidents from happening and allow our parents to pick up their children safely!

As a direct result of this intersection backup, heavy traffic, at high speeds and distracted driving now uses Lake Colony Lane within Liberty Park. It has become horribly dangerous for us trying to exit our diveways and for loose pets and kids playing in our yards.

Some sections of Sicard Hollow need to be re-paved. They are a hazard.

For safety and helping parents get to work on time for their families, please correct this very solvable issue.

Please put in a turn lane off of sicard hollow road for Liberty Park Elementary. This road is unsafe for drivers during school drop-off times.

I request for this to be done you can't see around people to come out on saucers hollar road from the elementary school I'm surprised there hasn't been deadly accidents

This is dangerous at carpool time for anyone traveling this road who is not waiting for children at the school.

NOW is the time to address this, before even more people move into the area.
